New boots in the 13 SR5 drivers seat

I wore out three pairs of Wolverine LT-12.0 A/T C over the past 8 years while driving the Land Rover and the first six months of driving the 4Runner. They have been really comfortable. The Wolverines were a bit slippery hiking up gravelly trails and seemed to soak up a lot of moisture when treading through mud or water. They wore like iron, finally the lining around the heel wears thru and the tread and heel wear thru the first ply of rubber.

The new pair of Ariat LT-12.0 M/T D I have been wearing for the past six months. They are a bit stiffer than the Wolverines. The tread is thicker and more aggressive on gravelly and rocky trails. They shed water better. Time will tell if they last better.

Note the Ariats are a bit heavier construction all around - and the pair probably weighs about 3.5 pounds compared to Wolverine 3.0 pounds.

Hey, I like learning about boots. Boots go in the 4Runner and in reality it is a more useful mod than many others.

- kinda' my answer to the thread with the shower shoe wearing spotter.....

I also wear jeans (Wranglers), long sleeved shirts and a straw cowboy hat...

In the back I've got a portable 12v air compressor, axe, shovel, 6 gallons of water, a couple tow straps, a couple d rings, first aid kit, jumper cable, come-along, etc.....


- AND: A comparison of boots is just as meaningful as comparing tires. I get out and hike around a lot on trails.

A 6'3" one. The photo was taken to include my head in the original un-cropped so the angle is steep resulting in perspective distortion.
