New lift and new tires (pics)

Well last weekend I finally lifted my Runner and put on some new tires. The Toytec Ultimate lift went on way easier than I thought it would. The BF Goodrich KM2 285/75/16 tires are sweet and help complete the lift. I'm going offroading this weekend and will try to get at least a few pics. I like how it looks, although I thought the rear would be a little higher, it sits about half an inch lower than the front.

Nice man. I just did the same lift a week ago. Do the KM2s rub the UCA? My 285/75 Kumhos do. I have the same exact stance as you. I want to go up 1.5" in the back to compensate the sag and give some rake. You will be really happy with the difference in off road ability and the highway ride isn't too bad either.

Looks good. You will enjoy the way it performs. I have wheeled with a few guys that have that set-up and it works really well.

That is a nice lift kit, a wee bit more wheelwell space in the rear would really set your rig off. KM2's for the win.

Looking good man... I'll be installing almost the same lift next weekend, but with LC coils in the rear. Goin with KM2s as well but in the 305 width!

Jon - My tires do rub the UCA but I can't tell where on the tire it is rubbing or how hard? Hopefully it won't wreck them. What are you going to do to add some more height?

You could get some 1/4" wheel spacers to throw the front tires out just a bit.

Yeah I thought about that, I would rather not deal with spacers though. I am hoping to get some new wheels in the next couple of months that have a better backspacing. Or I just saw that Steve at Sonoran Steel has shaved UCA which would take care of the problem as well.

I haven't looked at those. Are they shaved stock UCA's? If so, guess you could just grind down your own?

You won't regret the KM2s... they're not the most flashy or stylish of the M/Ts but they are beefy, will take a beating, and perform excellent on the trail & respectably well on-road. My experience comes from riding with friends in Jeeps, Tahoes, Silverados, & F-150s.

*Only thing*... just make sure you stay on schedule with your rotations and I have some buddies whose lasted about 55k miles.

They are shaved stock upper control arms. I guess I could try it myself, it just seems like a lot to remove without proper tools. Here is the link

Doing that would be cheaper than buying new wheels and getting the tires mounted and balanced. hmmm?

I would be stoked to get even close to that many miles. I was thinking 35-40k miles. The rotations are included so the only reason I wouldn't is pure laziness, and that would just be a shame to waste tires because of laziness.

305s rub like crazy! If you haven't bought them yet, go with 285s. I'm sure you want the extra width, but trust me, I ran them and they drove me crazy and are not worth the hassle. I had to do a lot of trimming and they still rubbed bad with 3" of lift (what I had at the time). Too bad you're in CA, I would give them to you to try out (I took them off with ~30% tread left because I just couldn't stand them anymore). That reminds me, I need to put those up on CL.

EDIT: Nevermind, I forgot you're running a 2" body lift. Doh! :ybrick: You'll be fine.

Yea having them included in the tire purchase is awesome. I'll have the same with Discount Tire... every 6k and you're good.

I would disagree. Having the back slightly higher or even with the front isn't as noticeable to the eye. Where as having the nose in the air catches my eye more. But really, it's your truck so you can choose whatever you like :guitar2:
