New muffler still too quite

So I got a great deal on this magnaflow on craigslist for $50. This guy had been planning to run two pipes out of the back of his chevy silverado. I guess he thought it would be a simple DIY job, found out it was too hard, and just installed one muffler. So I bought it, and last week I had a muffler shop weld it up for $45. Well, its too quite...So heres my ghetto idea (if your a perfectionist stop reading now) I want to drill a small hole in the piping in front of the muffler. Think of it as a Cut-out that cant be shut off. Any reason why I shouldnt do this?

If you enjoy the sound of exhaust leaks....go ahead, you will indeed make it louder. Wether or not it sounds good is totally up to you.

Also, you bumped your thread after 19 minutes. Next time i might give it some more time.

Dont do it, youll regret in 2.1 seconds after cranking it up. Magnaflows are quiet. Your best bet is to swap the muffler out. Shoulda got you a cherry bomb vortex, i love mine.

The cherry bomb is really that much louder than the magnaflow? I've never heard the vortex in real life and am genuinely curious.
 
It's quite what? I'll tell you this, if you start drilling holes in the exhaust, it'll be quite annoying. If you're not quite looking for that sound, there are quite a few choices for other muffler that will be quite a bit louder.

Loud is pretty subjective mind you...but, the vortex has a great sound. its noticeably louder than stock but still far from obnoxious, nice mellow tone. i realized long ago a v6 will never sound like a v8 and that wrasp is not cool lol.
 
Alright guys thanks for the input. I was thinking about this because I'm not gonna punch holes in a new muffler (or any muffler). The muffler was brand new 600 miles ago so I can't get my money back out and I figured drilling holes in the pipe would give it a deeper throated growl. I guess I'll just run the quite magnaflow seeing as I'm too low on funding. Thanks for the input.

That's quite a good idea. Other drivers on the road will appreciate your quiet muffer. :bigok:

I have always wondered what a v8 with one of those fart cannons on the back would sound like. You know, like what the civics have...
 
Ok ok I'm just gonna be real and straight up here but...

I'm not sure if you've been reading everyone else's posts but they (and I bet everyone except you) have noticed that you've been spelling "quiet" wrong.

Just thought you should know.

to the OP, yeah go with a cherry bomb if you want loud and border line annoying, imo, lol, the mangaflows are basically stock replacements or mild upgrades....just don't ask COB what he thinks of them...he may be along any minute to tell you anyways, and personally i don't blame him...

i run a magnaflow and i love it of course i also didnt want something that was too much over stock, since mine has been broken in it sounds pretty good. i run a 3 inch turndown so that might be part of it lol but its extremely deep, sets quite a few car alarms off haha

izzardking are you talking about regular cherry bombs or the vortex? just curious, i never thought my vortex was anywhere near annoying territory, the old-school cherry bombs, hell yes-obnoxious and annoying

old school, like the $10 glass packs you used to buy from the old wooden barrel and throw on your ricer car because you thought it was cool when your 16 years old....speaking from experience here. haha, i've never heard the vortex but have heard fairly good things about them, i'm just skeptical as all i know about cherry bombs is the really loud and annoying glass packs of the 90's....haha:zoom:
