Believe me, I know there are some that will say "SEARCH", and I have. I have been reading through this forum on many of the items, but I just wanted to post to get answers before diving in and spending money. Get real feedback. Planning on getting new wheels and tires for my 2014 SR5. Wanted to make sure that all the information would be the same for 2014 as previous years. Shouldn't have changed that much. Don't plan on lifting, but probably will by end of year. Not anything major, maybe just a leveling type kit or bilsteins with a 1.5" spacer in the back. I don't plan on any heavy offroading at all, mostly daily driving on streets. Here's what I'm thinking:
-18x9 Ultra Gauntlets 6x5.5 with -12mm offset
- stuck on tire decision. I have read a lot on this, and it seems I would me safe without a lift at 275/65/18. However, I'm worried this isn't going to really fill the well that much more than my stock 265/70/17. So I'm wondering if I will be ok with 285/65/18 with that wheel/offset. Seems like the negative offset will push the wheel out a little more. I'm fine doing some minor trimming and I can read on pushing the inner liner in.
- issue with removing the mudflaps. I went to remove the flaps this past weekend and realized that it removes the whole lining with it. Is there a replacement part for just the wheel well? Or would you have to cut the plastic?
So again, I'm leaning towards the 18x9 with 285/65/18 (BF Good A/T KO or Nitto Terra Grappler) with no lift for now. Only doing 1"-2" lift in future. Should I go with that or will the 275/65/18 be plenty big enough to fill it out. Thanks for your input.
