New Site Features?

dmin, is there any way to get new features for the site? I like how this site is set up, but I feel it lacks a bit behind some of the other Toyota sites like TacomaWorld.

Some things I'd like to see happen:

[OP] Next to the original posters name. I like this feature because it helps keep track of who originally asked the question or made the thread. I find it useful for the really long threads that go 5+ pages long.

More space for private messages. I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds the 100 messages too little. I constantly have to erase old messages when making transactions. Plus I like to keep helpful messages for a later use, but that often reduces the number of new messages I can receive/send.

A spot for names/ages under the users avatar. Not super important, but could be a cool option.

Recent Threads page. I know you've tried this before and it didn't go over well, but I find it really convenient. Plus it helps people branch out of their respective subforums more often. Maybe be able to make this an option if possible.

More "Smilies". Is there any way to get more smilies? The ones we have are great, but there are so many more out there and it would be nice to see some different "faces" up on the site.

I'm not to fluent with website creation so I'm not sure if some of these are easy fixes. I know some members have voiced the idea of donating to the site to help with expansion and new features. I would be happy to help out if it was an option.

Obviously most of these requests are trivial and not very important, but it would make the site a bit more enjoyable and convenient. If you guys have any more ideas please share as well.

Personally...
- I like the OP idea
- I haven't had the issue with PM space, but I've only been around a year or so. I haven't used PM folders, but it may remedy this issue
- I'm not too keen on the name/age thing. But I really wish all members would include their location in that info, especially if they're going to sell something
- I always click on Quick Links, Today's Posts, so that takes care of "recent posts"
- I'm not much of a fan of emoticons, but I know many others are.
- I'd be down with an option to donate to the site, but I don't think "paid" members should have any special features that non-paid members don't get. For example, I was on an Accord site and only paid members could post pics. That's just dumb in my opinion. Oh, and everyone that donates $10+ should get a free T4R.org sticker

One I'd like to see, Change the New posts to Unread posts with the ability to mark posts read or unread. I think we've all "timed out" at one point or another and not been able to read all of the new posts.

The name/age idea would be an option like it is on other sites. I'm not a huge emoticons fan either, but it's entertaining sometimes to see new ones. I definitely wouldn't want any special features either for donating members. Paying to post pics is counter productive IMO and just greedy of that forum.

I get annoyed with being timed out as well and losing track of which posts were read the last time I was on. Good idea!

I agree, and no, they are not "trivial" its what the members want and would like.
Id also ad something to stay on topic,,, after a few pages, most threads seem to get off topic, and ends up page after page after page, making it hard to follow the topic. Funny how a thread started as, say a certain tire brand, then buy the 3rd or 4th page, people are talking about whats butter to air up, starts out about a tire brand, then gets to wheels, then alignments, then airing up :wtf:.
Why not have a Stay On Topic, icon ? this would help keep threads on topic, and much easier to follow :bigok:
