New To Me 4th Gen

Please let me know how you like your chosen back-up bulbs. I haven't tried any inexpensive ones that put out better light than the stock incandescent bulbs.

The reverse LEDs I got are slightly better i suppose (probably just saying it to justify buying them honestly), however the interior LED bulbs are very impressive over stock. Below is a comparison picture for ya and probably one of these easiest modifications ive ever done to a car or truck.

Hello All,

Been lurking for a little bit trying to get details, facts etc. for purchasing a decent 4runner. Went back and fourth on what exactly I wanted between a 3rd Gen and a 4th Gen. Ended up pulling the trigger on a 4th Gen SR5 4x4 V8 yesterday afternoon with 159k on it. Has a ToyTec Ultimate 3inch lift with adjustable UCA's and Method Wheels with Goodyear Duratrac tires not much else as far as mods. First plans are to do a bunch of maintenance (diff fluid change, transfer case fluid change, oil change and grease up the drive shaft u-joints and slip shafts) then probably enjoy it before I do anything else. Glad to be able to use this forum to learn how to do some DIY's and cant wait to get my hands dirty making this thing mine.

Thank you Chris - the interior lighting difference is immense.

I swapped the interior (sans map and visor lights - don't wanna be blinded while driving) and puddle lights to LED and am quite happy. I tried some inexpensive LED backup bulbs and they actually seemed to put less light down on the road than the stock bulbs. The LEDs seem to scatter (into nothingness) too quickly. I found this to be not unlike LED headlights, so it might be that we simply need to use a different technology (or the housing isn't made to actually send decent light rearward).

Black would go with your look, but the red and good would pop

Where did you buy the LED lights for the interior? Would love to do this for my truck!

Superbrightleds.com, put your veichle info in and it will give you quick links to what fits where. I went and looked a different outputs of the bulbs etc. but pretty straight forward. Ended up being about 40 bucks for all the LED's and I love it.

Nice lift on the 4r. I am considering a lift on mine, but I need to pay it down a bit and do some fluid / tbelt water pump.
