New to the boards and pics of the first excursion

Hey, just wanted to make an offical first post introducing myself. Been creeping the boards for a couple months now. Just bought my first Runner, an 02 Sport Edition w/117k miles on it. Previous owner took great care of her and she runs like a champ and looks great too. So far put in a JVC headunit, with an alpine PDX-5 amp, Polk components, and my Diamond audio 12inch sub going in soon. So this past weekend I decided to pop her "cherry". This is my first off-roading experience too.

Thankfully mine came with a hitch!! Bug already bit me and have OME kit on the way.

sweet 02. many people feel the 3rd gen is the prettiest prettier still with all that mud.

Haha, thats my good buddy in the Jeep. I forgot we went around that last water/mud on the way in and went through it on the way back, well almost went through it. Was almost up on the other side and started spinning tires. Was able to back up this far and got stuck on some kind of tree root. This was in the Pine Barrens, NJ. The dirt there is very sandy.

It is the 4x4. I do plan on doing the diff breather mod, I am changing out the diff and transfer fluids today just in case. I have the OME coil/shocks going on next week.

Nice purchase, and welcome. Another '02 Sport in Thunder Cloud roaming around the Pine Barrens....oh goodie! You should make your next excursion a trip to Island Beach State Park in Ocean County. You need a permit, but it is a nice facility. Who is doing your coil/shock work?

My buddy has a shop, so was going to do the spring/shocks myself. Doesn't sound like rocket science and I've done suspensions before. Just not on trucks. I got the OME 881/890 setup coming. Not sure about tires yet, gonna see how it looks after the lift, since the previous owner put on brand new rubber before I bought it, I feel guilty not wearing them down a little first, or maybe I'll try to sell them and get a nice set of A/T's.

Anyone else frequent the Pine Barren's? It's only a little over an hour from me so I plan on being there more often.
 
You'll love your OME lift. Just installed mine and it's great.

I was just like you and have done a lot of cars but never a truck before.

Haha, nope he went around, I thought I saw him go through, hence why I plunged it. Live and you learn! Just happy it didnt take on too much water. Gotta figure out how to beef up the door seals for next time.
 
Ha, no body lift. I don't believe I'll be throwing on any tires or going on any trails that warrant it. I did receive most of my OME lift. Sadly the rear shocks are on backorder.
