New trans cooler and radiator - should I get rad for manual trans?

Got a new 98 T4R Limited with 160k miles. Although prior owner last did a coolant flush at120k I thought I'd establish a new baseline with new parts so I know what I've got. I'll be doing the timing belt replacement so thought I'd change out radiator since I have to remove the old one anyway. For added insurance against the pink milkshake thought I'd also add a trans cooler.

My question is, should I order a new radiator for a manual trans since I don't need the trans cooling anymore as part of the radiator or should I just order the normal one for an auto tranny and cap off the trans coolant lines?

Seems like I read somewhere no matter what you order you get one for an auto. I can't recall where but that stuck in my head for some reason. Makes sense though as the Manuals are rare and the Auto radiator works the same, so why stock 2 of the same part with one irrelevant, low volume, variation.

Thats what I remember too. I guess it depends which radiator you go with, but Rock Auto seems to have all three core height sizes- with and w/o the trans cooler nipples.

I would just get with and cap it off. You never know when a situation comes about and you'd decide to ditch the external cooler (maybe it splits or gets damaged on the trail). Then all you have to do is connect the hoses to the one in the rad and keep on truckin' with cooled fluid.

Or, you may decide that the external cooler alone isn't ideal for your climate/duties and want to run it in series with the OEM cooler.

Point is, you'll have a new rad. Even without a segregated external cooler, you won't have to worry about the dreaded pink milkshake for another decade in the least.

But again.. I would just order with. leave you with options for whatever situation down the road.
