How are these tires holding up after a year or so? I am wanting to replace my STT Pros due to some cupping issues after 25k miles. Don't know if I want to swap to the RGs or buy the Pros again. Thanks for any feedback I can get.

I have 25K miles on mine, and can take some photos later today. I'm missing a few chunks on the lugs here and there from mexico, but surprisingly they all look really really good 14 months later.

Has anyone ran 265/70/17 RGs on a 9" rim? I know the website shows to 8.5" however, I know on some tires they've fit fine. I wouldn't mind going up to 285s but I don't know when I'll be able to get the lift purchased and installed. Just don't want to run the stock tires again.

Currently running the Dunlop Grandtrek AT20s on the 17x9 -12 and I'm fine with the looks. Just want a more aggressive tire!

I have been looking all over the place and I think I am going to pull the trigger on a set of NITTO Ridge Grapplers in 285/70/R17 I have a stock rig is anyone running these tires on a stock TRD Off Road? I know there will be some minor rubbing, also has anyone done 20-25k on them I go off road about 20 times a year and live in NH where it's snowy and Icy 4 months a year. I also commute about 20 miles (each way) on the highway and the 4Runner is my daily driver. any tips or advice, good bad or otherwise is much appreciated.

They should fit if you’re willing to give up your mudflaps and push the fender liner forward in the front. Also, you may have to slightly trim the lower edge of the bumper.

The Nitto tires run big. You'll likely rub quite a bit. You will also likely rub the sidewall on the upper control arms on stock wheels, possibly to the point that you won't be able to drive it. In all honesty, I highly doubt the tires will fit at all on stock wheels and stock suspension. I ran a 285/70/17 on stock suspension with a 17x8 wheel with 4.5" BS and had rubbing and that was a BFG KO2 which runs a lot smaller than the Nitto tire does. You can give it a shot but made sure you have a backup plan.

I run the 285’s on a 17x8 wheel with 4.5” backspacing and I don’t rub at all on the UCAs. I don’t think it would even rub on the stock UCAs.

See if your tire dealer will let you mount one up and try it.

Have over 20k on my set and so far they’ve been impressive. Just about every terrain and weather condition you could throw at them and they just ride right through it easily. Very little tread wear for 20k and they stay smooth, quiet and balanced. So impressed I just put a set on my Tundra.

I tried a set of Hankooks on while my 5th gen was bone stock and they fit. Granted those were Hankook ATs which run a hair smaller than the RGs and it was only in a shop. It was close to everything but they did fit. My “bone stock” sig belongs to my Tundra, which isn’t bone stock anymore so I guess I need to update that as well.

I have heard that the rub comes most often in reverse at full lock, which again, if it's liners and mud flaps they're gone, but if it's the UCA or the body I'm basically toast. you are making me feel like it may be worth a shot. in the 275/70/R17 there are really only the Cooper Discoverer ST/Maxx or the BFG AT KO2's neither of which are bad but I like the idea of the "hybrid" Mud/AT tread design, and naturally bigger is always better...Right?

Right. I set the vehicle down on them and turned the wheel. It was close but cleared. Ditch the flaps and move the front fender liner forward and they would clear no problem. I don’t recall how close they were to the UCA but I think we had enough room. There’s actually quite a few folks on this forum that run 285’s on stock 5th gens. Stay away from the wheel spacers and you’ll be ok.

I wasn't saying he would rub a 285 on a 17x8 wheel with 4.5" BS, I was saying he would rub a 285 on a stock 17x7 wheel with whatever the stock BS is.

the stock wheels on the TRD Pro and Off Road are 17.5" and they are also lifted 1" in the front and 2" in the back higher than the SR5 and Limited... so I have been told, So maybe you could on a TRD but not on an SR-5? is this possible?

I am sorry my friend, I am very new to all of this so could easily be wrong, however everything I have read both on this forum as well as from Toyota indicates the wheel width on the TRD Pro wheels as well as my TRD Off Road wheels are 7.5" wide. specifically the limited are 20"x7" the SR-5 are 17"x7" and the TE or TRD Off Road as well the TRD Pro are 17'x7.5" the tires in question 285/70/17 would not fit on a 7" wide wheel thus rendering my query irrelevant. I only know what I have read and have only been looking into this for a few days, so as I mentioned I could easily be wrong, but all the data I have seen so far has been consistent with what I am saying and not with what you are now telling me.

I can confirm too that the TRD Pro rims are 17 x 7 and trail wheels are 17 x 7.5. There's some ambiguous information out there for some reason, but I know the aforementioned lengths are correct.

17x7 either way and the back spacing is the same also. The TRD Pro is 1" higher in the front and the same height in the back from what I understand.

Sorry man you are the one that is 100% incorrect. Do some searching on here, or take a look at the stickies on the top. TRD Pro rims are and have always been 17x7. The Trail/TRD Off Road rims are 17x7.5.

Yeah man Louise above already sort of cleared that up, didn't you see that. the other guy, 20164Runner is contending that ALL 4 Runner rims are 17x7 which as you just mentioned isn't correct. So yeah, we agree, sorry if I was unclear about that.
