No Compass After Head Unit Install

Hey everyone. I just got finished installing a Pioneer AVH-4100NEX head unit in the 4Runner and noticed that now the compass in the information display (The one that shows, MPG, miles to empty, etc.) is gone. I'm assuming this has to do with the GPS unit now being disconnected. Does anyone with more electrical expertise than me have any ideas on how to get this back? It's not a deal breaker, but would be nice to have it again. I used the PAC RP4.2-TY11 harness for the installation.

Truck is a 2015 Limited with Navigation and JBL.

Are your windows working? HVAC lights out?

Sounds like you may have blown a fuse. There is a 10 amp ECU fuse in the fuse box under the hood, check that fuse and hopefully it fixes your issue.

Everything else works fine, including the other functions on that display such as the odometer, temp display, MPG etc.
 
It can't be from the stock head unit being disconnected, as there are no connections from it to the compass or any other part of the mini gauge set above the unit.

I installed the avic-8100nex in mine, and everything in that cluster still works, so I'm thinking when you disconnected it to install your dash kit, either a pin from the connector got bent or wire pulled back from the molex plug. I'd pull the dash again (thank god its an easy 4 bolt and snap-together dash!) and check the connection to that gauge set again. Try pushing on all the wires to re-seat them back into the molex plug.

I'd do this with the key on so you can see what makes it come back to life.

I have the same problem as you after I installed my AVH-4000NEX. I never thought anything of it, just assumed the GPS was linked to the factory nav which I removed.

They are linked together by CanBus Hi/Lo. Compass goes away disconnecting OEM navigation, at least for 2014 and up.

If I'm understanding correctly, if your 4R came with nav, the compass won't work if the head unit is replaced, but if it didn't come with nav, the compass will continue working?
 
Okay, so by deduction, this must be a newish thing, because my sr5 that had non-jbl head unit came with compass and mine still works after head unit replacement.

I'm not doubting you, but would like to get confirmation on it being tied into the canbus. Anyone have a schematic showing where it ties into the ecu? Once we have that, then it can be determined whether or not it can be re-wired to the ecu for the compass to work again.
