No SR5 Badges on 2010, purchase inspection advice?

Hey guys, I'm in the process of buying my first 4Runner, a 2010 with really low miles. It's currently being shipped in to my local Carmax and should be here in a few days. Couldn't find a pre-owned V6 w 4WD locally....go figure.

Anyway, I just noticed, in the pictures, that there is no SR5 badge, on the C pillar, on either side.

As I'm realllllly new to 4Runnners, is this significant? Should it be un-badged? I guess someone could have removed them, but I'm more concerned with accident repair where they weren't replaced. Although, Carmax says no accidents on the record.

Is there anything else I should look for on inspection that's particular to this year?

At this point I'm only into the shipping about $200....so if something isn't right, walking away won't be painful.

Maybe, what would I look for that's distinctive to the Trail? Hood air scoop...not present.

Sounds like it was just de-badged then?
TE's have all black trim and the Hood Scoop. The only chrome would be the Toyota Logos front & rear.

Just throwing this out there but carmax is often the first place people drive to after getting accident damaged quickly repaired before it hits the VIN. Just saying to look it over very carefully. Can't think of a reason to debadge SR5?

Lots of folks "debadge" you can check the vin but it would have to be a big accident for it to have been repainted that high on both sides... On a side note in NM lots of cars are missing badges cause a day of 110+F and the adhesive gets pretty soft.

its on the Cpillar.... if it was in an accident that damagaed that I would bet it wouldnt be on the lot for sale....

Thanks everyone.

Swarty, interesting thought about the heat. This is a former south Florida car...not your kind of heat, but hot pretty hot anyway. Could be they fell off.

doesnt get that damn hot. my rig sits in the sun all day long no issues... someone debaged it don't think into it too much

Debadging was the first thing I did when I brought my new 2010 home. Much easier to wash and wax with them removed.

As soon as my 2014 comes in ill do the same to it.

Mystery solved; they were removed.

After reading a lot of threads, I noticed that the rear 4Runner trim had been blacked out as well; to me, it lend credence to removal, as opposed to an accident or other cause.

Now, I'm wondering to which forum member previously owned the vehicle. lol

If all goes well, I'll be the third owner with only 30K on the clock.

Will post pictures when it arrives.

Thank you all for your help and patience with the noob!
