Noob Question: 5 speed 4x4 how-to?

Total noob here. Currently looking at a 5spd 4runner 4x4 and wondering how to drive one correctly compared to a auto tranny. (any videos out there?)

I am aware that with an auto you just put it in N, switch to 4L or 4H, and put back into D and you are good to go, but with 5spd it sounds much more complicated...

-Do you engage 4L and 4H by pressing in the clutch?
-What gear/speed can you take 4L and 4H up to?
-Is descending more complicated with 5spd compared to auto? (in terms of lower rpm's and stalling)

I just come to a complete stop put the transmission in N then put it in 4H or 4L, the put it in 1st gear and it's running.

When putting it back into 2wd, I come to a complete stop, then slide it into 2H then take off, the little green drive terrain light goes off.

If you want to switch into 4H, you can do so "on the fly" up to I believe 55mph. No need to stop or put it into neutral. For switching into 4L, you should be below 5mph but I make it a habit to stop completely. Once stopped, depress the clutch pop it into 4L, and you're good to go. You of course have the option to shift into neutral first.

I am not aware of any speed limitation for when you are in either 4H or 4L.

while i have no idea for these 4runners, the allisons ive driven are not supposed to exceed 15 off road in 4low
