Noob question about re-grease Icon suspension

My suspension is making lots of squeaking and I wanted to re-grease it but it isn't the standard zerk fitting. What do i do? :shrug:

I tried search but probably too noob of a question...

That's for servicing the shock with nitrogen. If you have uniball UCA's, try triflow on the uniball.

no uniball, i have LR UCA and I just took it a part to regrease the crap out of that. No sound coming from there for a while!

But all 4 sides are still making a ton of noise. While driving, driveways, bumps, bumpy roads, etc... squeak squeak.

Try to lube your rear lower links.
In the front try to lube 2-3 spots at a time to each side and see if you still have the noise. Have someone jump up/down while standing on your sliders(if you have sliders present) or rock your truck from side to side while under there to listen for the noise. If noise is still there. lube another 2-3 spots then check for noise again. This way when the noise happens to go away after you just lubed that spot/area,you will know where the noise is for future reference. This is how I got rid of some of my sqeaks n creeks.

I'll give it a shot, i greased up the rear lower links and it helped out that area but other areas still have some. i'll pick up some spray lube tomorrow and try out the other options.

At the top and bottom of the shocks are spherical bearings (see red arrows). Use some lithium based grease on them. They may already be shot and need replacement, mine only lasted a year. While you're there, put some penetrating oil on the threads of the shock body.

Sure it's not the upper control arms bushings? I have same setup (Icon and LR arms) and chased the squeak for a while. Sometimes the arms are installed with suspension at full droop binding up the bushings. Loosen the long bolt through arms with the truck sitting on the ground then retighten. This is what finally helped me. The bushings were bound up. If that makes sense...

I just took the bolts off this past weekend and greased it up completely. I did it at my buddy's shop so I had the truck lifted and used a jack to hold up the tire to reduce the weight. There was no squeaking for a year or so but i'll try that out.

Thanks, i added some in those areas, seemed to help a little. Going to add more at different flex levels. Should I have grease it before to avoid the bearings going bad?

I don't think it could hurt.

When they do go bad, trust me, you'll know. The sound will be embarrassing loud and nearly constant. Once it gets to that point, adding grease quiets it down for about a day.

Yup, that's where I'm at... I'm in a parking garage that echos when the squeaking when i drive around. :hiding:

Is it dangerous to be driving around like this? or at risk?

Nah, it'll pretty much just make noise.

If you want to replace them, they are COM10T, and you'll need snap rings of the appropriate size. 4 bearings, 8 snap rings.

Icon Lift Sqeaks

Hey guys, so kind of a noob when it comes to lifts so go easy on me if this is something simple or normal. I recently bought stage 2 with uniballs. When I am driving at 5-30mph, I'm hearing quite a bit of squeaking and vibrations through the steering and petals. Is this normal? I called ICON and they do not reccomend grease or oil in the uniballs. I'm pretty sure that's where it's coming from. What could be the downfall of lubricating the joints? Please help a newbie to lifts.

it's been discussed (speculated?) before that some UCA manufacturers will advise against oil on the uniballs, because some things will quickly deteriorate the teflon liner-- such as WD-40.

I use triflo superior lubricant and triflo dry this past winter. Dirtking sells triflo for their UCAs, so that was good enough for me.

Mine have been silent, except for a bit of creaking one day which reminded me to reapply. It's good stuff.

They don't recommend it because it attracts dirt and mud into the bearings and destroyes them faster.. they are a wear item and should be repelaced every 15-30k miles depending on your climate and use. People don't get told this part about the "race" style shocks and then wonder why they are noisy and need maintenance. Best of luck.

if you're gonna have them off the truck you might as well get the N2 level checked. or just send them in for a full rebuild.

Icon Stage 2 noises - fixed

Turns out my sway bar was grinding against one of the factory skid connectors. Thankfully the sway bar wasn't effected (maybe a scratch or two) so I had to hammer down the connector then smooth it out. The noises are gone!! Thanks everyone for your advice.
