not sure how to feel about this???

So, while doing some googling on offroading and stuff...I come across this web-blog site of this photographer who likes to travel to Death Valley. He always rents suvs/4x4 to drive there, but he's always had bad luck with flat tires.

He posted his problem on this blog and here is one of the responses:

Yeah me too, 1 minute.

My understanding on 4WD vs. AWD, is 4WD has a low-range while AWD does not, thus some do not consider an Escalade a real SUV, but a wagon. I don't see how a 4Runner is not a 4x4, it might not be as capable say to a Jeep Wrangler, but it's a 4x4 nonetheless. Ultimately, IMO capability is only part of the equation. Driver skill is equally important in choosing the right line. Someone without any off-roading experience can probably get a rock-crawler trail rig stuck and a skilled driver can probably conquer the same terrain in RAV4. My two cents.
