I think what Rook is getting is the bickering by both sides is really, really annoying. Your thread may not have stared a coup, but it sure as hell feels like the forum has divided picking sides.

The arguments keep spreading to other threads it seems. The incessant need to defend oneself over a trite remark the other has said is lame. Debating is great, but please understand, 'you're stupid' is not a valid rebuttal.

Well, at the risk of sounding like an ass, I've gotta say that you are free to read whatever you want on this forum. If you perceive these types of threads as bickering, then don't read them. Others are obviously interested in reading them. Just look at the amount of views on that thread.

You're right though... I don't want to see arguments spreading to the other threads. It's a better idea to limit them to one or two threads. I see no point in ruining other people's threads by carrying over crap into them, althought I'm sure I've been guilty of that in the past. Keep in mind that any arguments spilling into the other threads is mostly because there was something fundamentally wrong in the forum and other people decided to lash out.

A good example, and trust me there are plenty from both sides so don't feel called out, but ES, instead of saying, 'roger that' to Rooks post you felt the need to continue with the remarks. We know you feel like you've been wronged, and you've made it clear in your 'thai is a punk thread'. But sometimes situations just call for accepting a little blame and moving on.

Maybe it's just my personality, but when I read rook's post, I honestly felt the desire to defend my position on SOME of the things he said. Notice that I gave him credit for a good post (first thing I said), but then had to provide a little bit of detail to explain my actions in the past. Sure, I could have let it go, but if I did that, I wouldn't be me.

well........ok.

here's my 2 cents.

1) I think open discussions are great...but I do think that they should stay focused on the focus of this forum.

2) Saying "this is mine so I get to do what I want" is childish.

3) There is a perception of unfairness. May I suggest progressive discipline? seems to work in other areas that we all work in. If the behavior is not corrected, further sanctions are in play. Kinda like Iran.

4) This is a good and informative forum.

5) Threatening to allow no mods and ok to trolls is manipulative.

This could all be avoided if the forum software was updated....

The newest version of Vbulletin has a built in warning system, where the mods can issue warning notices and "points" to a user, if too many add up they end up temp banned, if more add up they get perma-banned...

Seems like it would have settled all of this without all the he said she said.

Just my .02 cents.

Well now know one will have to worry about it since there will be very little if any regulation from anyone or anything ...... have at it and enjoy !!!

We have this same exact problem on the YUGO performance forums.

Exactly. I still don't believe any of the mods would let the forum go to crap. When I read Thai's message, I thought it was more of a "chess move" to swing support back in his direction. A good move for sure, but I didn't see any real outpouring of people asking him to forget about the change and keeps things as they were.

I was going to comment on this until I read your other posts about changing it from the Aztec forums. LOL.

After much thought, i am going to step down from being administrator. Juneau92 is right...maybe i cared for this forum a little too much. I spent many hours in one day on this forum...but unlike what many of you think, most of those times have been screening all registered members to look for spammers. In addition, some of those registered member never got their "email confirmation," so i had to register them manually. Tedious and tiresome work let me tell you! Maybe because of this effort, i took the forum too seriously at times. For that, i apologize to those who took offense. (However, Even Steven got what he deserved from me banning him...i won't regret that one bit. Good luck with him!)

So, i will be just like you guys...regular members. No "double standard" which a few of you complained about. No banning from me for sure.

It dawn on me this morning while driving to work...i don't even own a 4runner, not since 2003...yet, i am the admin of the most popular 4runner forum on the net! :) It has been a cool 6 year run on this forum. My 6-months old kid is growing like a weed and i definitely need to spend more time with him and teach him about cars and off-roading!

I will be in and out of this forum ocassionally. I still take great pride that this forum is now so self-sufficient with a great knowledge base.

If you guys need anything specific from me, then please PM me.

Thank you and seriously, enjoy this great forum.

YES ! Wondering about that also . Is the issue , no one knows how to do it ? Upgrades dont cost any money if you own the VB license . I did my own forum , went from ver. 3.0.1 to 3.6.8 . Took less than an hour and it is SO much better .

Since it's going in a new direction, please can we update to decent software also?

I think this vBulletin version is from 1982.

Who would be responsible for making this decision?

With nearly 20,000 members it would be of great benefit to the community if the software was updated. The forum would be a lot more accessible, feature laden, responsive, and more fun. I'm sure activity would increase as a result.

I'm sure the community would help cover any costs involved. I know I certainly would.

Who has control of this here?

Probably Gator Greg. Now that Thai has stepped down, you should probably send Gator Greg a note asking him about it.

Well, I don't know about other folks, Thai, but I am sorry to hear that you will step down as mod/administrator. :( You're not the perfect mod/administrator, but no one is. You do care about the forum, that's for certain, perhaps even a little too much, but that's okay. :) As earlier stated, I think you overall did a very good job, and you know your stuff, at least I think you do. ;): And truthfully, I'd like to see you continue as admin, but i understand if you can't, with your new baby and everything.

I just wish all this could be behind all of us, that we all learned a little bit, and now just move on. Maybe we can't do that, but I wish we could.

PS - BTW, I tried to PM you earlier this morning before work, but your mailbox was full.

So who will step up and take the reigns? :awais: Any of the people who complained about Thai care to put in the time and put up with the whiners? :bash: I doubt it. :headslap:

Obviously if Even Steven wasn't on this board we wouldn't have all this *****ing, that in itself seems reason enough to ban the guy imo. He has contributed a little here and there in the past, but at the same time there is no doubt that he has frequently been a self-rightous prick to several guys on this board (not myself...yet), imo the good doesn't counter the bad and he has become a drain on this board.

Especially if we now have to enjoy all these freaking porn pics and links in every thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't you realize what Thai is doing? It's so easy to see right through him.

He's basically pissed that so many people lashed out against him in my thread the other day. So he decided to post threads saying that the forum is going in a new direction...and then another thread that he is stepping down as administrator. Instead of dealing with the REAL issue, he warns us that everyone who was banned in the past will be allowed to return. And he will no longer control spammers.... or delete inappropriate posts/pictures etc... In other words, he's manipulating the forum members in the hope that people will start complaining that the site is going to be crap if it remains unmoderated. Then he'll blame everyone who lashed out against him saying that this is what they all wanted. Very predictable.

And I'd bet my left nut that there's a thread in the moderator's forum where Thai asked the moderators to allow this kind of nonsense without stepping in and actually moderating. His grand plan seems exactly as I had expected. And have you noticed that there is a complete absense of moderators posting in the last couple of days? It's funny that they really haven't posted anything even if they are not "moderating" the forum anymore.

Need a tissue, Even Steven?? :D Boohooo...hahahaha! Remember to thank those who support the re-appearance of this unique personality!

BTW, i am no longer administrator...so, i no longer have the power to delete anything nor participate in the Moderator's Hangout.

As stated above, i have no ambition to become an admin again...waaayyyy too much work. I actually enjoy just popping in and out of thread that i care about.

The person you guys need to thank are the moderators and Gatorgreg. The Moderators are the ones that are gonna suffer the most from my abscence. For that, i deeply apologize for my sudden "self-demotion".

I am not Michael Jordan...ain't gonna be a second time around. :)

From The New Me. :D
