NYC-Runner Build Thread

We went camping in New Hampshire this past weekend. I was able to sneak away for a couple of hours and explore some class 6 roads. It's pretty crazy they run all thru the state and they go from dirt gravel all the way to 4Lo and winching if your not careful. I wish I could of explored more but we went out in the early evening so we were burning daylight and already managed to get lost pretty quickly once we got deep in the woods. I wish I had my good camera with me and took some better quality pics.

Your truck and build has tuned out amazing. I just installed all icon components and couldn't be happier. Question about the metal tech long travel setup... I almost bought it but ultimately decided to go with the standard icon/spring because I didn't want to lose the up travel with the metal tech lt setup. I also read that drive shaft starts to rub gas tank skid. What's your experience with it so far? Do you notice the slight decrease in up travel and do you have gas tank contact with driveshaft?

Thanks bro, Good choice the icons have been steadily kicking ass for almost a year now i really love them!

I also read and heard that also in the beginning when i was researching the Metaltech LT kit but honestly since i've installed it the performance of the kit has been so impressive off road that it never really crossed my mind again and haven't looked back since. I've had the both tires stuffed pretty good to the point where i can hear my tires chewing up my inner fender so i don't know how much further it can get up there. Also yes my drive shaft has come into contact and rubbed against my gas tank skid, mainly in situations where on really flexed out on the drivers side. Not a huge deal, i've been meaning to trim it like how Darklight did i just haven't gotten around to it yet. I plan on getting a RCI gas tank skid so i'm definitely going to pre trim it before i instal it.

Just got my tent cot for the New Hampshire overland challenge coming up in the end of September. Me and cbielat are a team. It's going to be pretty awesome I'm really looking forward to it! It's a 5 day event with various different types of terrain and challenges and camping at a new spot every night.

So I needed something quick and easy to put up and take down every day. After doing a bunch of research I read a lot of good reviews and feedback on the oversized tent cot. Set up literally took 2 minutes and there's plenty of room in there for me being 6'2 - 190 lbs It comes with a thin foam pad in it but I'm also going to get a Therma rest sleeping pad to add to it for a little extra comfort. It also comes with a nice rainfly and a carry bag. Here's a quick pic of it up.

That sounds like a blast man. I'm sure you guys will have a lot of fun! Interesting about the tent cot. I have been eyeing the REI evrgrn Starry Night tent myself. I like that the cot gets you up and off the ground. I'll have to check it out a little more.

Trucks looking good Jared!

Yeah I can't wait man. I figured just for me it ideal, quick easy and yes I like that it keeps you off the ground a little to in case the weather isn't so good you don't have to worry about tarping underneath. Ultimately I still want to build a nice little military trailer with a RTT for base camp situations.

Thanks bro she's always a work in progress but I'm really diggin the current build state! God I want a rear bumper so bad! I refuse to look at your build anymore because it just makes it worse haha. Your build just about done huh? Famous last words lol. Trucks bad ass man!

Lol,thanks man, famous last words for sure. Im not sure it will ever be done. Just enjoying it as it is and as it goes. That's the best thing to do. Right now my factory jbl amp is crappin out on me and im planning on replacing it and the door speakers with jl audio tr 650 and tr600. Just on the fence about replacing the 5 factory tweeters with some jl c2 350's. Pandora a box in this one.

Nice man that sounds like a fun little project. That's also one of the things on my to do list,, the long never ending to do list that keeps growing haha

Nice man, I can't wait to use it!

Love the cot, this past trip to Uwharrie I slept in my eno hammock and I must say I was very happy with it. Definitely helped to keep cool out there too.

I was thinking about going with a hammock to but i thought this was a another cool option with the extra added shelter. I was thinking if it rains we can just park the trucks 8-12 feet apart and run a tarp from roof rack to roof rack and put the cots underneath. They come with rain fly's but it doesn't hurt to have a little extra coverage:rain:. I was just up in NH last week and it's already getting pretty chilly up there at night so I'll definitely be using my warmer cocoon sleeping bag seeing as this is going to be in early October.

Made it out this past Sunday to do a little wheeling and exploring cbielat in his bad ass 5th gen and emelianenkov with his new FJ

Wow where was this. The only place i go is pine barrens NJ and in CT.

This is in northern NJ/NY border near Mahwah NJ. I don't really like to diclose the exact location because there's been some controversy on how legal it is because it's partly state owned and partly owned by he natives indians up there. There's also been crazy stories about the place so much they even put it in a movie i'm not sure if you've seem it or not it's called ( Out The Furnace ) with Christian Bale and Woody Harrelson, this is the place where Woody Harrelson's character lives and takes place. Anyways we've never had any issues up there and i was first brought up there by some friends who live in NJ and we've run into plenty of locals up there's and everybody seems pretty cool as long as your not up there being a knuckle head or disrespecting the land. I have heard about cops busting people's balls from other people but again we haven't had any issues.

I also wheel in CT all the time but it's pretty much the same deal. Nothings really legal in NY,NJ, CT etc it just depends on where you go and who's land your on etc. We got tickets once for running these really awesome trails in CT that run along power lines and the cops didn't even car it was only cause somebody called about some dirtbikes ripping the the residential neighborhood and then the same person saw one of us come out the trail head and was already pissed and they called on us to. The cops said if the person hadn't of called they wouldn't give a shit but the had to do the job so they gave us the cheapest ticket possible which was like $40-$50 i think. We've been back many time since without any issues.

Let me know if you want to go wheeling some time we go out pretty often aside from this summer which has been pretty slow for me. We'll be out a bunch this fall for sure. I don't know what your running for armor but for a lot of the places we go it's definitely required!

I would love to tag along. But my main issue is my days off which are weds and thrusdays. And no i dont have armor i just got the jeep in april. But um yeah thanks for the respond. I been to nepaug state forest in CT. But i dont know much of the area and dont explore much there.

Damn...Everytime I see your rig I find myself "needing" more stuff for mine! If my wife asks why, I'm blaming you!

Seriously though...Your rig is badass:yo:

I don't have a regular schedule either so i could possibly do the middle of the week.

Thanks man! Haha that's what i tell my wife, i pretty much blame the forum or group buys and god knows some of the crazy excuses i've come up with to justify why i needed to do a new mod lol I'm starting to think i have a serious problem:nod:

Got a chance to get out and ride the quads this past weekend upstate!

I really need a bigger trailer!
Speaking of trailers!

Picked up this today! 1953 Military Bantam trailer. Don't be fooled by the picture, it may have had one to many bad paint jobs and a little bit of surface rust but the frame and tub and everything else is rock solid! I've been wanting one of these for a while I can't wait to start my expedition/camping trailer build! Should be a nice little winter project.

Lastly I stopped by and caught up with this guy on my way back to NYC. It's always good to see you Titanpat57 and catch up and chat! You always got some new awesome electrical innovations going on with that thing! Can't wait to see the new treads on there! Hopefully I can make it to the VOR!!!
