Odd problem with radio after changing headlight bulbs

So the other day I changed out the light bulbs to replace one that burnt out. I replaced the factory ones with PIAA Xtreme White Plus after reading through other forum posts and love them (first time doing this).

Part of the install was fine and part of it was a little more work. The passenger one was fast and easy. The driver side not so easy. I was able to remove it without much trouble, but getting the new one in was a pain. It wouldn't push in all the way and turning it was impossible. So I had to disconnect and remove the battery to get a better hold on it. After tapping it a bit with a hammer it finally got in and turned. I got the battery reconnected, tested the lights and all is good.

Now the weird problems. I have one of the Pioneer AVIC 9XX, forget exactly which one. The nav/radio turns on, but there's no sound. I've tried the radio and ipod and still get nothing. Also the rear wiper stopped working.

What the hell did I do? hehe

For the rear wiper you need to reinitialize the rear window. Hold the button down for a few seconds after it gets down. Hold again for a few second after its all the way up. There a better write up on here somewhere but thats the idea. Not sure about the radio problem but it sounds like something may need to be reset.:shrug:

I'll try that for the window later and I'm going through the radio manual to see what I have to do after the battery is disconnecting. Looks like it might be a volume setting that defaulted to low or mute.

Ok the rear wiper is fixed thanks!

I'm still trying to figure out what is wrong with the radio. I checked the manual, but nothing helped. I may try calling the installer and see if he knows what is wrong.

Have you tried resetting the HU? Not familar with that unit, but there should be someway to do a factory reset.

Edit: I see that's all ready been suggested.

Disconnecting the battery leads to a lot of things that need to be reset. I agree that the head unit needs to be reset. Check the model on line and you will find information on how to do it.

I called my installer and he had me disconnect the ground on the battery and wait a bit before reconnecting it. After I did that sure enough the radio started working again. Apparently there is a module to connect the Pioneer radio to the internal JBL system/amp and that could have flaked out during the battery disconnect.
