Odyssey Group 34 - Whats been your experience?

i've never understood the appeal of getting a group 34 battery

I have the 34 PC1500 single battery and running the Dometic cfx65w. Just came back from Moab last week for a week. The 1st initial day before the trip when I got the fridge was concerning as voltage dropped down to 12.0v over the coarse of 12hrs. But after that, it maintain a 12.5-12.6v in the morning for every night i was there. From my understanding, the Dometic is one if the lowest power consumption fridge and I'm running a single battery setup, so i wouldn't be concern even for 2 days before start. You dont really need the spacers as i dont have the spacer on. And as for the 31m, it's nice to have the extra juice but I don't think I need it.

I just got the Odyssey 34. I needed a spacer on mine. I just cut a block of wood and put it on top of the battery and that works fine. I may buy an aftermarket batter holder.

I am on my second 31. I had the old Diehard 31m (rebranded Odyssey), I noticed @ 22 months the case cracked on the top and started getting weak voltage >12.3, returned it for full refund, bought a Odyssey 31m-pc2150 (before they switched the poles) I do have the “voltage booster” fuse.

My truck does fine if I drive it a lot, other than that I keep it on a NoCo smart charger as if I don’t make long trips it does slowly discharge. I personally believe the suboptimal charging is software/ECU issue. I have the TE edition 130 amp alternator, which should be plenty.

I am curious how everyone that did the big3 upgrade are doing, there were at least a few dozen that group buy’d the xp270 alternators.

My 270-XP is still Great from 2015 (14.6 V @curbside idle), but my "35-AGMPC1400 Odyssey Extreme" is 8 yrs old now, and showing signs of poor storage capacity when using accessories...e.g. two 1200W Sub amps, LEDs, htr, wipers...etc! So I'm looking to replace the battery with an "ODX-AGM-34R-1500" 850 CCA (135 min reserve)... don't need my voltage sagging when accessories are running!

So I'm looking to replace the battery with an "ODX-AGM-34R-1500" 850 CCA (135 min reserve)... don't need my voltage sagging when accessories are running!

Hey so has any of you experimented with alternate battery chemistries yet? As I see the one you want to replace is a "drycell". ODX-AGM-34R-1500

Since already dropping $300-400 on these it isn't much more of a stretch to look at alts. Curious minds want to know

Well A-Team...,

I ordered the new:"ODX-AGM-34R-1500T, 850 CCA (135 min reserve)" (from Amazon) on Saturday, and it arrived on Wednesday 2/15/23; "And I'm THRILLED!" I really had NO IDEA how depleted this 8 year old battery was; [installed on 5/29/15]. It always started w/o any trouble... cranking was slightly slower during the Summer, but that was a sign to me that it may be time to think about getting it replaced!

But last month, when I cranked-up the Mono-Block-Subs, (letting my rage out :rant, I noticed that the "Tell-tale volt meter" on the instrument-cluster was swinging back and forth! I plugged in my 12V cigarette lighter voltage tester, and it was swinging from 14.50 to 12.85V and back; ...and you know that ain't right...

So it was time; I've NEVER had a battery that lasted for eight yrs, and giving me such "Trouble-free" Service across time! So I could justify the cost w/FREE S&H, was $367.79 (+ tx) $391.79! And this "Odyssey "ODX-AGM-34R-1500T has a lil' more reserve cap than the Odyssey Extreme AGM 35 PC-1400! Here are the manufacturer's details below should-ya wanna make an AGM swap:
