OEM RAV4 Blind Spot Mirror Retrofit

I got mine from langley Toyotatown I ordered the two part numbers in the first post and received the same part numbers no crossing to a different number. They took a week to get as they had to come from another distribution center, back East I think.

That's where I bought my 4Runner lol!

Weird how they had to cross over the part numbers...?!?! I ordered from Open Road Port Moody. I am picking them up today after work. Hopefully they are the same despite the different part numbers. Will update today after I pick up/install.

Thanks weeeee for this! I did the retrofit today for the driver’s side.

As others have mentioned, I felt like something was going to break while trying to pull off the original mirror. So, I went to Google and found the attached Toyota TSB from 2001. While it obviously applies to an older model, I found the procedure on the top of page 2 for the ’00-’01 MY to work on my 2016. There’s a recess on the bottom of the white mounting bracket, just as described in the TSB. Twisting a screwdriver in this recess pops the bottom part of the mirror right off of the bracket. After getting the bottom loose, it was easy to get my fingers inside the housing to be able to gently pull off the top part off.

You can see that recess in the bottom of the bracket in weeee’s picture below.

This is a nice upgrade.

Gently pry off the original mirror, remove the OEM heater connector and you'll end up with this

This method worked great! You need a large flat heat screw driver. I used the power switch and pitched the mirror up all the way...from there you can shine a flashlight in and see the center recessed notched area....put large flat head screw driver in there and simply push and twist and the mirror pops off very easy. The top them simply just pulls off....fearless method of removing the oem mirror.

I did find to attach the connector you have to rotate and connect the mirror then rotate and push it into place...

Took me 2 min tops including getting back in the driver's seat and using the switch to move down and position the mirror to my liking....

Your mirrors must love you for being such a gentleman, lol!

I just put my fingers behind there and yanked the mirror off, pushed it to the side to connect the wiring (makes a lot of noise but doesn't harm anything), and pressed the new mirror on.

Takes about 30 seconds/side- but my mirrors probably felt a little violated.:whip2:

Just installed mine and the mirrors seem to rattle a bit when closing the door. Anyone else have this issue? Does it have to do with the metal tabs on the back of the RAV4 mirrors? I noticed the 4Runner mirrors don't have these.

it should not rattle. Not sure what is causing your issue. Maybe the plugs for the heater element is the only thing I can think of that can cause a rattling sound.

A few questions about the Rav4 mirrors.

• Does the blind spot part of the mirror have any adjustment independent from the main glass or is it fixed to the frame?
• Is the blind spot mirror covered by the mirror's heating element? This may seem like an odd questions, but here in CO snow can build up around the edges of the glass while driving.

1. Affixed to main glass.

2. The leads are there and connected. But since in Southern Cali, can't verify the ice/snow melting pattern of the glass.

This method worked great for me as well. Did mine this afternoon during the halftime break of the Eagles-Giants game. Took me less than 10 minutes. I picked up both mirrors for $102 total from McGeorge Toyota online parts.

I was getting ready to do this mod but wanted to know if anyone can confirm if the heating element works on the convex part of the mirror?
