I have a sirius starmate 5 wired into my 05 factory installed jbl system (steering wheel controls) via an fm modulator. This is unsatisfactory - signal drift and muddled sound.
I would like to know if there is a way to wire the output jack on the starmate into the hu that would let me use one of the other unused functions (cassette player specifically) to play the sat radio. I do not want to use the cassette adapter function.

Have you tried the cassette adapter? It's actually the recommended method for connecting an external sat radio receiver. This is how mine is connected and it ended up being better sound quality then when I used my line input jacks. I was able to route the wire so it can't be seen at all.
