Welcome to T4R! Nice 4Runner. As far as the rubbing goes, EVERYTHING will rub lol. Just gonna have to get use to those noises. Actually, your 3" body lift will help a lot to limit the rubbing. You should be alright.

Here's some pics of the "35s" first night out on John Bull. Running with no body lift with minimal rubbing. Rolled back front fenders and pounded firewalls. No rubbing up front besides the frame at full lock.

The rear I extened the bump stops and rolled/pounded the fenders back. Just rubbing the gas tank filler.

Also thanks to Rockdawg84 for the inspiration of fitting the 35s with no body lift. I was tempted to put one on but after seeing your 4runners with no body lift I knew it was possible. :thanks:

Im not sure if this has been brought up in this thread but specific alignment specs can really help push the front tires forward and keep them out of the firewall. I beat my firewall back as far as it would go. I still rubbed in the front at full stuff to the point I had to add small bump stop spacers. I heard about making the caster extremely positive (>3.5˚+) helping with this. On the rubicon a few weeks ago i saw a fj with 35's and we asked the owner some questions. apparently the caster adjustment let them fit 35's no problem. This is a huge topic on fj's. i searched around.

Any ways i got home and gave it a shot yesterday. I needed to play with my alignment anyways. I was surprised how much extra room I now have. I didn't take a before but i got over 1/2" of movement forward. Then i re-adjusted the camber and toe to spec. It drives just fine. I think that this can really help those without body lifts fit the 35's

notice the front tire is pretty far forward. THis is a noticeable improvement from the In-spec caster. and the only effect front the caster being really positive is that when driving the steering wheel wants to return to center a little stinger than before.

If I could do it again, I think I would have bought 4.0” backspace wheels and ran front spacers. The 4” BS wheels would tuck better in the rear of the 4Runner and the 1” front spacers would even out the track width to where the front and rear match (my front width is 1.5” less than the front). Also, the extra ½” would help frame clearance.

Tires also make a huge difference; the KM2 tread section width is a good inch narrower than the MTR’s and they don’t rub the frame as bad. I’ve had SAS trucks my whole life, and I’ll take extra turning radius even if that means rubbing the frame a little. It’s not going to hurt anything.

Just trying to clarify what you are saying, your front track width is 1.5" narrower than the rear? Would it have made the difference worse or better had you have gotten 4"bs wheels for the rear and kept the 3.5"bs wheels up front? I'm guessing it would keep the track widths closer together and avoid spacers. Anyway awesome build on your 4runner dirtco, I watched the snow wheeling vid man that looks like fun.

Definitely going to be looking into this.. I don't necessarily rub that bad but it does rub the firewall at flex.

thats where i was, Now i really barley rub at full stuff full lock. I know it moved it forward quite a bit because i now just barely rub the add canister in the drivers wheel well when fully stuffed and turned

Yes, the front track width is less than the rear axle. I'm not sure what the factory spec's are, but when you lift some IFS suspension's the track width decreases a certain extent. The wheel's are good idea, but I really want the front and rear to match for rotating the tires. I've had front spacers on my last two 4Runners and never had an issue with them.
