Official 3rd gen 4Runners on 35's Pic Thread

No I didn't go through every page but most people have mentioned everything but how much lift they did. I've seen alot of wheel combos backspacing and how high there frame is bjt not how much lift. I figure 3 inch but wasn't for sure if they went higher then that

in all seriousness. Lift has nothing to do with fitting 35's. The IFS on the front of our 4runners moves through the same cycle and space no matter how much lift you have. So in order to fit larger tires, 35's in this case, you have to move the body away from the tires. this can be accomplished through a body lift (bad Idea IMO because you would need aprox 3 inches of body lift to not rub) or you can beat back or cut and weld back the finder well to accommodate larger tires or some combination of the two as has been stated. It really depends on what your going to use your truck for. If you want to wheel it then do it right and clearance. Just saying. :drummer:
 
From my personal experience, tubbing the firewall is the best way to do it. However, it is about 900 times easier to tub the firewall if you never touch it with a hammer.

So when you mount 35's, choose 1 way or the other. Don't do both

Another question on running 35's. Have any of you pushed your rear axle back about an 1/2" - 1" or so to help with clearance? I'm really thinking about going for 35's on my next set of tires and figured this may help to keep from rubbing into the door and front of the wheel well. I know tubbing the firewall and trimming fenders is a must to get proper clearance with no BL. I'd probably have to extend my bump stops in the rear about an inch more than stock to help not rub the top of the wheel well. Running 33" now with very minimal rub on the top of the wheel well and close to rubbing on the pinch weld behind the rear door. Just trying to get a couple opinions if anyone has tried this.

I would not move things back that far. If you do you will be into the rear wheel well. I haven't moved mine back at all and have had to clearance the lower rear part of the rear wheel well. I do not have any problems with the front of the wheel well. Also, I just barely rub the cover for the fuel filler on the drivers side. I want to get some adjustable rear upper and lower control arms but only to adjust the pinion angle not move the axle back. BTW I'm running 8 wraps and lowered SS bump stops.

How much lift did u gain with the 861? Im looking to get some rear coils since i just did the front toyotec boss so the rear is ot level up and thats why i ask the question plus working on my front coils one of my rear shocks when out so yup another reason to but new shocks and rear coils but i cant determine which ones to go with in the back

Sorry just saw this. I went from Superflexes to 861's and added the bumper in between so I can't really help with how much lift was gained from stock.

Maybe search 861 lift to get an accurate answer. I want to say 4-5 inches with stock weight, but it will ride pretty stiff. I would recommend Superflexes with stock weight they ride really nice.

Fire wall has been tubbed heavily but they clear lock to lock at full stuff with no limit it travel and no body lift.
