Thinkin' of going 33's for a little while, to see if I really wanna build the runner before I spend lots of money I wouldn't get back.
The ideas that hit my head were narrow 33's, regear to 4.88's - probably buying a locked 4.88 rear third used, BJ spacers in the front, new lift springs in the back.
Anyone ran a setup like this, or a similar one? I honestly love the way 33's look, on anything.
I ran 255/85s and 5.29 on the '86 (auto), and I'm going to run the same tires and 5.29 on my '85 (manual). 4.88 and 5.29 is only a difference of a couple hundred RPM at 75 mph, and I dunno about you but with the 22RE I'll trade that slight mpg hit for better climbing ability any day. And it'll give you wiggle room to try 35s down the road, if the bug bites you
You'll probably rub a bit on the back of the fender liner at full stuff with 33s and just ball joint spacers, I did. A little trimming and pounding took care of that.
