No link, but I know for sure that the Trail will have a hoodscoop. I don't think a hoodscoop will be available on any other versions. So all of us Sport Edition owners who love our scoops will have to switch over to the Trail to have a scoop in the future. Then again, unless the new design grows on me tremendously, which is doubtful, I don't think I'll be buying a 5th gen 4Runner.

There is a document posted on page 6 of this thread which lists all of the options for the trail package. I'm holding out hope that the trail 4runner is going to be a bad ass!

It doesn't look too bad, but I think I'll wait for some more significant drivetrain improvements. I'm sure a 6 speed tranny and/or the new V8 is scheduled for one of the upcoming model year changes.
I think it took until 05 for Toyota to put the 5 speed tranny in with the V6.

The 5spd auto didn't make it to the V6 4Runners till 2005. Before that, it was still 4spd for the V6.

The '03 and '04 4.0L 4Runners both used 4-speed automatics. The 5-speed auto wasn't put into the 4.0L 4Runner until the '05 model year.
That is not correct. In 03 the V6 had a 4 speed auto and the V8 had the 5 speed auto. Same in 04. In 05 both had the 5 speed. I know because that is the reason I didn't buy one in 03. I wasn't 100% sure about 04.
What possibly caused you to make that post?

They had been improving each year.. until the 5th Gen...
5th Gen looks good to me, although that white one looks a bit emasculated. Even though some of you dislike it now, I am sure it will grow on most of you.
I almost bought an FJ Cruiser last year and then took out a 4Runner and liked it more, but couldn't commit since I knew the new one was coming out relatively soon. I guess I'll find out soon enough how it is. If there is something fundamentally so terrible with it, I can always go looking for a nice 4th gen TE, but for now I think I'll go with the new model.

In my opinion, the 4th gen design was an immediate connection for me. I thought it looked great (and still do). I also loved the 3rd gen design when it came out as well (I still miss my dad's 1996). Unfortunately, my first looks of the 5th gen were not the same. I will reserve any other comments until after I physically see and drive the truck.

Same here. I've always liked 4Runner, even the 1st generation. The 2nd and 3rd gens were good looking and seemed like a natural progression. The 4th gen seemed like a bigger jump in styling from the 3rd gen (as compared to 2nd & 3rd gens), but I liked it the first time I laid eyes on it. I just wish I could say the same about the 5th gen. Some people like to say it just needs time to grow on you, but why? Why does it have to grow on me when I liked the earlier 4Runners right away?
Now it's true that I've only seen some low res pics that don't show the whole vehicle and it's details, but from what I've seen so far I'm pretty disappointed. I almost want to go out and buy an '09 before they're all gone!

And why are you comparing the price of your 4runner when you bought it USED vs. someone who bought theirs NEW?? My 2002 4runner Limited 4wd was around $33,000...ain't cheap back then nor by today's standards.
