OK. Saw my first one up close at the dealer yesterday. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! It didn't help that it was a white SR5 with no frills. First thing I noticed was that it appears considerably taller than my 2006 Sport parked beside it. Antenna is fender mounted and not automatic, just a screw on mast. Dashboard looked cheap. Shift lever looked awkward and there were two of them, like on a Land Cruiser. Cup holders were poorly placed. I still say, it looks like they set out to copy a Pathfinder or an Armada. Perhaps they should have asked themselves, how many Pathfinders do you see on the road compared to 4-Runners. I left the mall last night and before getting out of the parking lot saw 3-4 other 4-Runners. Can't remember the last time I saw a Pathfinder. I'm already looking for a cherry 2009. I'm bummed!

i saw a white limited 2 days ago... talked to the guy who claimed to have purchased the first one in SC but it looked okay... the 20's were gay as sh!t but the nav looked sweet in it. still like 4th and 3rd gens better

I actually saw one on the road today (a teenager was driving it, how lucky) and have to say it looked really good. Nothing looked out of place.

Eye of the Beholder...

I like mine a lot. Just traded an 08 Grand Cherokee in on an SR5, in the red. So new I don't know the color, and the Cherokee was so new I didn't know who the loan was through for the pay-off?!
Nothing against the GC, but the 4R is superior in so many ways. I cannot wait to put thousands of miles on this thing.
Better fit, better finish, better accessories, greater comfort, more room, better visibility, greater fuel economy. More money? Sure, but it's brand new and the and I got it for $1000 over invoice; a $35,500 vehicle for $32,500, I'm pretty happy with that.
As the title says, I would rather form follow function, the function follow form!
