I knew they made the older ones (pre Tacoma) in aluminum but didn't think they made ones that fit the 3rd gen in aluminum.

may be an extremely noobish paint question but how are you guys doing the toyota emblem a different color? careful masking or am I missing something?

I can't speak for everyone else... but when I did mine (which you pictured in your quote) I used a small brush, and a steady hand to do the T emblem and the small writing on the wheel itself....

Anyone have any advice for repainting my wheels. They have a base coat of plasti-dip with Rustoleum Hammered Black on top. I want to repaint them satin black, but don't want to strip them back to the original chrome finish. Could I just scuff up the Rustoleum and repaint right over that?

I would think roughing up the plasti dip might tear it. Just clean and paint over your existing paint unless you know it wont damage the plasti-dip.

It looks brighter than it really is probably because of the sun. I was going for a darker bronze color rather than the gold that it seems to closer to.

Automotive catalyzed base / clear setup, I just picked a stock silver color. LandCrusier wheels, 265/75/r16 tires, stock height, for now......

I use a little $12 HF HVLP gun, the mini purple one, if you can bake a cake you can mix and spray catalyzed paint, and its much tougher than the stuff that comes in a can, not to mention its cheaper, and lays down smoother.

Do you remember what the name was of the silver that you picked, what the paint code was, or what year/make/model it was for? That silver looks real close to the exact color/tint/shade of silver I want to paint my Limited 5 spoke wheels with. That is if I even go with silver. I've also been considering graphite too.

My 4Runner is currently the two-tone black over topaz metallic. I plan on spraying everything that is currently topaz metallic with more black and basically murder the thing out. I had thought of maybe even doing black wheels and shooting them with the same paint code 202 black as everything else so they would match. Not sure if that would look good or not. I've also thought a dark bronze or satin black would go well with a solid black truck too.

I just don't know what to do... :shrug: I just have to do something soon. About 50% of my clear coat is gone and the bare aluminum has corroded pretty bad. Needless to say they stick out and make an otherwise 9.0/10 - 9.5/10 truck look like a 5.0/10 :sobbing:

I, too, used a small brush and steady hand for the wheel cap 'T's. I sprayed the caps 'Hulk Green' first (brianemc2_42 as stated. My wife has some black acrylic paint I used to color the 'T', then I sprayed numerous coats of satin clear coat to protect the work. Been that way ever since (May 2011, I think.)

Just got these painted.

Duplicolor Graphite Wheel Paint HWP102, with Anthracite (Same color as the body) center caps.

know this is really old but whats the holes in your bumpers?

Powder coated my wheels a couple of weeks back.....decided on colour matching the centre caps to upper body with spray & acquer - I did make an attempt to mask the logo to maintain the stock graphite but it got way out of hand, I might yet give the 'paint stick' a try though, sounds like a plan - good call too.
