OME 884/895E OR 885/895 on a V8 4Runner

Hi all. So I've gone through hundreds of threads on all forums and yet I still can't get a straight answer.

I want to remove/replace my xREAS/Air on my 07 Limited with conventional struts/springs. I know I need the Metaltech RAS to coil adapter kit.

The 885/895 is supposed to give a 3/2" lift but there's no consistency with the actual lift. Some say it's 3.5" some say it's only 2.5" after settling? As I do not want to go with aftermarket UCA's to get my alignment back in spec, i want to keep the lift to less than 3". 2.5-2.75 will be perfect and based on calculations and articles, it appears like I "should" be able to get this with the OME 884/895E combo. This isn't recommended on a V8 but that's because they assume you want a 3"/2" lift. I don't.

Hoping that with the 884/895E combo, I'll end up with a 2.5"/1.5" lift instead which will not require any other aftermarket mods.

Can anyone confirm this? Especially those with V8 4runners that have the 884/895E combo?

Thanks!

I can't speak to the V8 issue but I had that setup on my V6 and center hub to wheel well measured even all around but visually I had negative rake. I swapped the front out for 883 and it now sits where I like. I have about 1/2" of rake. Good for loads. I also wanted a smaller lift that the usual 3/2. My thought is that the 884 would set up the V8 where you want it.

Thanks for your response, your feedback was one of the threads I looked at as well and going on the premise that If an 884/885E gives a negative rack on a V6, that the same setup on a V8 should be even or slightly positive rake which is what I'm after.

When all is said and done, I should be at at 2.5"/1.5" lift. 99.5% sure I'm going with this setup all based on calculated risk as there does not appear to exist, a stock V8 with this setup. :(

I too had trouble getting a straight answer when factoring in the V8. I'm having 884/895E installed tomorrow. According to Cruiser Outfitters where I bought the gear, I should see ~2" up front and ~1.5" in the back. I too was only looking for a ~2"/1" lift and that combo seemed like the best bet w/o using spacers. A little extra height in the rear should be ok as most of the time I have a fairly heavy bike rack mounted.

For 2.5"/1.5" You might go with the 885/895E combo.

Please, please, please come back after you get it installed to let us know what the actual lifts you got were.

From all the research I've done, 885 will give you just over a 3" lift on the front on a V8. More on a V6.

Please, please, please! :)

I should have measurements tomorrow. i literally moved across the country a few days after the install. Its definitely taller than the beat down XREAS I replaced. It aligned within spec on all the values. I am quite happy with both the stance and the ride quality.

If you want to try to keep stock UCA's for sure stay with the 884. I used to run 885 on bilstien 5100 "lowest 0 setting" aka stock setting, and I got a a full 3" of lift.

I'm on 885's with 5100s (on "0" setting) and stock UCAs, I'm good but probably right below the cutoff for keeping stock UCAs. And as always every truck is a little different. After the coils settled I'm probably around 2.5-2.75 inches of lift

Also interested in pics - looking to rid myself of XREAS (non-RAS) on my 2005 V8 at some point. Would like to keep slight forward rake. IIRC, from the research I did months ago, 884/895E should be just about right....

I ran the 884s with a 1.5" rear spacer on my V8. Netted about 2.5" front lift for me. Swapped to the 885s when I got a bumper/winch

Thanks for the responses guys!

Right now, leaning towards the 884/895e combo along with OME 90021/60004 shocks. Will get the 5mm trim packer for the drivers front/rear as well to fix the lean issue and the Metaltech RAS conversion kit.

Just need to find a local store (I'm in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) with experience doing this. Any recommendations?

Icing on the cake will be when Wallace gets a chance to provide pics or measurements of his drop. :high5:

Wallace, any chance you could post pics and measurements? I think I'd like to do the same combo.... TIA!

Curious to see how it turns out. It's the same setup I'm looking to do, full OME, on my 2006 V8. Only addition I'm considering is airbags in the rear for when I'm towing my 18' Alumaweld.

I have the 884/895E with Bilstein 5100s. I have the front shocks set on .85 and the lift is right 2.5 in the front and 1.5 in the rear. Tires are BFG 285/75/17.

For me I think this is a good lift. You'll need to do UCAs. I went with ROKKEM. They are easy to install and the setup was perfect for alignment.

I'll post some pics later.

Swanny, can you say the trailer pull weight and tongue weight of your Alumaweld as towed? I am trying to determine how much I can tow with my 2006 T4R V8.

Somboa - I've literally been reading T4R all day (working from home is a blessing) researching suspension options + this exact OME setup and cannot believe I'm only coming across this thread NOW lol.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the set up + ride, and see some photos on how your V8 sits.
Wallace - would love some input from you too!

Much appreciated

Jon

Off the top of my head, I think it's around 1,800-2,000. Not the heaviest thing I've towed with the 4Runner but you can still tell it's there.

Hi Jon, I haven't done this yet as I'm still looking for a local shop to ideally source the parts and perform the removal and install including the alignment. One thing I'm not clear on is the rear air/ecu/fuse. Once converted to coils, is there anything that needs to be done to either the fuse, sensors or ecu for the rear air?

Once installed I will definitely provide a height and performance review.
