G'day team,
The strangest thing happened on Thursday. I left the house just like any other day. I went to the truck and touched the door handle to unlock the door. I got in, put my foot on the brake pedal and pressed the 'Start-button'. There's always about a 2-3 second delay while she sequences the start. I can hear the main electrical relay pull-in. Now, I hear the audio system loading... but the engine is usually started before the stereo comes on, and no start! Now I turn it back off, put my foot back on the brake and push the start button again... same thing, no start. (*By no start I mean no 'cranking'*)... Just for clarification.
Then it occurred to me that I may need to do the whole thing completely over, including the 'disarming and unlocking' the driver door. Once I did that, she started right up/no more trouble; so I nixed it off as one of those flukey, improper 'sequence of loading' things that can happen wherever software/firmware is involved. Today, however, I had planned to take my niece out to lunch; told her that I would take her out to "Joe's crab shack" for some Queen crab legs for her 10'th birthday!
When I attempted to start it up though, same thing as thursday. The only sounds heard were the truck's electrical system engaging, and it's seatbelt chimes ringing... as if "all systems are ready to go"! I tried to "Boot-it" up again but that didn't work this time. I disconnected the battery for about a minute and then re-connected it, but no good. I attempted to start it about 7 or 8 more times and nothing. But then, after I started cursing and swearing at it, out loud :yell:, it did finally start :wtf: To me, it just felt like the engine had been 'immobilized', perhaps by the security system.
The truck has eight thousand, six hundred (8,600) miles on it and is totally stock; accept for the sub-woofer system which is really independent of all the other systems in the vehical e.g., all wiring straight to the battery and input signal comes right from a left/right front channel speaker tap. I read here that some have been successful "HOLDING" the key fob against the start button when it fails to start, but I just learned of this now so I didn't try that.
Any thoughts... cheers.
