Opinion of Party Mode?

I recently got my 4Runner a few weeks ago. Still try to figure out what exactly party mode is used for? Seems like the music simply just gets a little bit louder when activated. Couldn't I simply just turn the volume knob up on the radio and accomplish the same thing? Let me know your thoughts.......

I doubt it since a simple read of the Owner's Manual states "In party mode, the sound volume from the speakers on the back door is bigger than in base mode. (The output from the speakers on the rear doors will be transferred to the back door speakers.)".

Gives you a little better bass response with the backdoor open. Works good if your trying to serenade wild "ana-mules"!:guitar2::reddance:

There is actually a relay that turns the rear door speakers off when in party mode. It also has an input to the radio that does some EQ hoohah to enhance sounds.

Neat idea I guess that I don't think I would use much. I would rather have extra storage space back there instead of the speaker.

Mine doesn't seem to work. The switch doesn't light up when activated, and the sound seems to be the same when pressed and released. Even when I don't press the party mode button, I still get plenty of sound from those speakers in the rear hatch.

I'm wondering if they forgot to activate the option during the PDI.

The switch doesn't light up and i also have a limited and hear almost no difference when activated. I believe it Works better on the sr5 without the jbl system we have.

??? What do you mean?

The switch does not light up, it has an in and out position. When it's on the rear door speakers will be off. The tailgate, front door, and dash speakers are always on.

Many have confirmed that the Limiteds don't change in Party Mode.

I have non JBL . its the stock one that comes with the TE .

I know there are tons of aftermarket sound systems that are really nice , but I'm totally happy with this system and the "party" button is just another added bonus to it . Love the sound .

I've got a 2011 Limited and there's definitely a difference when Party Mode is on.

I like the party mode. I used it 5 or 6 times this year when I was tailgating at football games and it does make a difference.

mine is an 11 too, but i don't notice any difference. I'll have to check the rear doors, but if that's all it does, BFD, the hatch speakers are always on, and they aren't much louder if at all when party mode is on.
