I cannot decide whether to pull the trigger on the lift and tires because I am unsure of what it will look like with these rims. Can anyone give me an honest opinion of what I should do?
Opinion on nitto terra grapplers on 20" enkei rims and 2.5/1.5 daystar lift

I don't know why you would assume that. Clearly you can still drive off the pavement with 20" wheels. Judging by the tire and lift choice, he's probably not a hardcore/extreme off-roader, so 20"s are fine.

because not only is it not advisable but most people dont use 20s for offroading unless the tires are way bigger, dirt roads are fine. thats why i assume this. check some other threads, i know others have the same thought on it. even 15 in. steelies can get bent, so u judge which would be safer in the rough.

I know your sentiments are in line with many others. And you do bring up a good point that I didn't take into consideration which is tire size. 20" rims with 35" tires = perfectly fine for 80% of off-roading out there. 20" rims with some 285/70's = no so much. But my point is that for the average joe, 20's will get them where they want to go, and in style.

Yeah, sorry the picture used to show up and I haven't been on here in a while so i am not sure what is wrong with it. I won't be doing much off-roadin (although now i wish i had gone with the sport as opposed to the "xsp" i got) but i just want a little height to put 275/55/20 nitto terra grapplers on. I like the way BlackYotaSport3 has his although my rims are not black.

Do it. I think it will look good. You won't be doing any rock crawling down in Alabama so your fine.

haha that is true clemsonfan. Can anyone estimate how much rake i will have left with the 2.5/1.5 (assuming each measurement may differ in the fron or rear) if my back is 35.75 and my front is 33.5?

So you want to run 275/55/20? Why lift it 3" to do that? Couldn't you get by with a smaller lift?
Or if you went 3" why not go with bigger tires.

To be honest, I want to avoid trimming at all costs. Take a look at this t4r and tell me what you think.

That looks pretty good. I was a little worried that the tires might look to small, but I think that would be a good look.

285/50/20 Tires
Here is mine, they barely rub on the mudflap. I have not pushed the inner liner forward yet, but will for good measure. I'm am going to install the 1" Daystar to level it, and don't think it will hit the mudflap then. I almost got the Terra Grapplers or the Cooper Zeon LTZ as I liked the all terrain aspect. I ended up going with these and I think they look awesome and were about $200 cheaper for the set. They have pretty deep tread not to be an all terrain, but ride really smooth. I don't hit the woods to hard, so with the excellent 4wd of the 4runner and decent treads I should be good on minor trails and powerlines.

That looks good. I plan on going with 32" terra grapplers and possibly the daystar 2.5/1.5 or toytec 3". Thanks for your help cause you just answered my question on how the rims look with all-terrains considering those tires look more aggressive than your average street tire.

20's offroad are perfectly fine, maybe not for rocks so much but perfectly fine in mud and trail riding. You can bend anything if you hit it hard enough!
I think the wheels and tires will look good, you should do it! I might suggest just going ahead and doing a 3 in lift, oh and WAR EAGLE! haha

rolltide, i never said not to get 20s, all i said was i assumed u didnt offroad much so my point was why not keep it at 2 instead of 3 in the front since IMO the higher ya go , larger tires look better since there less gap, it also gives more of a mpg hit, possible cv issues later on without a diff. drop, higher center of gravity, etc. (i come from a time when some preferred to lift as little a possible & cut to fit larger tires) (not that anyone would do it with a new 4r). dont get me wrong, im not saying u would have problems but it can/may happen. im old school so i look at things differently than some of the younger generation, someone on this thread just had a problem with my saying i assumed u didnt offroad, thats the only reason i said what i did about wheel size. so for the record, IMO, 20s look good, & work just fine for most needs, im just saying, why go to a 3 in. lift if its not really needed or necessary,if someone has a problem with this statement, so be it, either way im sure it will look good & you"ll be happy with whatever u decide to do.

With the 2 inch lift yea they probably will but not if you just go ahead and jump on the 3". Yea, I am! I have had a lot of good times in ole t-town; I guess we will see how we hold up against yall haha

I think 32's will be fine with the 3" lift, they will rub with the 2 inch. Yea, I have had some great times in t-town, so I am looking forward to it! I guess we will see how AU holds up against the national champs, hope we can do something!
