Ok, so I am telling on myself....
As I type this with an ice pack and beer to soothe my pain. :lmao:
I was hurriedly trying to open the rear hatch, and realized it was going to hit the garage roof.
Sooooo, naturally I stepped over towards the wall where I have a couple old t shirts hanging. I often use these shirts between the lift door and the garage ceiling to prevent (further) scratches.
So this is where it gets interesting. As I reached for the shirt with my right arm the gas struts reached the inflection point of not holding the door weight and the rear door slams shut closing my left thumb in the door. FU_q!!! :toilet3:
I stood there completely trapped. Thumb trapped and smashed, but not broken. I couldn't move, or reach the handle. Fortunately my wife was home and was able to come running to release me. :behindsofa: I guess THIS is why married men live longer than single men do...
Pretty crazy. The door got my thumb just above the knuckle so it was smashed and trapped.
Lesson here is to be cautious around the lift gate.
