Kind of frustrated, the guy left a note with his number and plate info. I called him and he wanted to see if he could pay out of pocket if it wasnt to much. Now that i emailed him the estimate, its like he disappeared. I told the wife if he hasn't called me before noon tomorrow im going though insurance.

Since he left his contact info, it'll be his loss if he doesn't call back. I'd rest easy, either way it'll be his problem.

Seems pretty obvious your going to need a new steel rear bumper. Might as well get sliders for next time as well...

Sucks man! Same thing happened to my 3rd gen, at Costco no less, and no note. I feel your pain. Those spots are so wide! People are morons that's all there is to it.

DL#, registration and Insurance

Ouch, tough break. I hope you got enough info to file the claim. He probably needs to weigh his options and decide if he still wants to pay out of pocket.
Best of luck.

Dang that sucks, at least he was decent enough to leave his contact info as it seems like that's rare these days. However, i couldn't help but notice you parked on the line of the stall. Not trying to say it's your fault as there is no excuse for hitting your vehicle, but extra wide stalls aren't that wide when you're on the line. :behindsofa:

Idiot left his contact information.

Share it with your insurance company.

You have zero obligation to oblige his request to pay for it out of his pocket.

You could have parked properly and maybe avoided it but I would just send his info to your insurance and let them handle it

I noticed he was parked across the lines too... I always check and if there is an open spot that is partially blocked due to other cars being poorly parked I pass on it. You might be able to get in there but you're at the mercy of the next parkers when the people on either side of you leave...

If you love your car, park far away from the door of the store.

I just park in the farthest lot now and hoof it. What really makes me mad is that some ahole will park his car next to mine out there just to be funny.

The minute you relax and park the car among the people it will get dinged.

Now the CCTV in the parking lots are very good in most places and getting the make and model would help police catching the person who hit your car. You can ask the manager to pull the tape, the police may go in and ask for it, or you can get a court order to get it. If they say they don't record they're not telling the truth. Most record by default at 30 days.

He opted to cover it by insurance. It goes in on monday morning. His insurance is also covering a rental that comps the 4runner. I thought that was nice.
