We have been wanting to release this product for a really long time. As a small manufacturing/fab shop it can be difficult to stop what you are doing long enough to get the ball rolling. We have been tweaking this design over and over to get :
1. A look that complements the Runner and our front bumper

these are just the concept animations that we have been messing with to get the right look. With the help of Den Bradshaw we were able to get a cool 3d concept to start with as a base. Cheaper to play with animation vs Metal

We will be using this thread to start building an interest list. Also a chance to give us some feedback before we go full production mode

Next we have the CNC cut ready patterns. We made some changes since this drawing and the final cuts will also have changes made. Not pictured is the swing out. This will be just as slick as the rest of the bumper.

It really is just a preference thing...I can see a reason to have it it you do a lot of rock crawling....

Interesting. A little to curvy for my taste, but looks good.

May want to rethink the direction the tire carrier swings. Should someone have to stop on the highway and open it, it would be in the direct line of traffic.

Dam, how would you even think of that? Haha I was not and would never think of that when looking at it, but it makes sense obviously.

I've always preferred the tire to be on the pass. side for a couple of reasons.
1) it helps to balance weight with the driver being on the ....drivers..... side and the tire being on the pass. side.
2) tire swinging open towards pass side. This makes sense because the driver will be walking back from his side to the rear and doesn't have to continue around to the pass. side to swing open the tire carrier.

All of this is just personal preference. I am sure they can be ordered either way. I really do like the look of the bumper.

Unless you are driving in the UK, Ireland, Jamaica, Australia, Japan, etc, etc... ;-)

I like the general concept of the bumper and from what I can tell, the lines match up with your front bumper design pretty well. My biggest complaint about most rear bumpers is that they don't follow the lines of the body, they're too square; this one seems to be more refined and hugs the body a little better. I am also not a big fan of the exhaust opening.

Will the bumper-only option (w/o swing out) have those recessed pockets?

Can you post some pics of the solid model itself (not wireframes)?

Looks good. Personally, I like the spare tire on the driver's side. If you turn your head over your right shoulder to back up you still have the ability to see out the back window.

I'm digging it. Really keeps with the other armor you guys are producing.

My thoughts....
I have always like the tire on the drivers side for the simple reason of it is out of your field of view when you look over your right shoulder. That being said it isn't as practical for weight distribution unless you have a full jerrycan (approx 35 lbs full) that will help balance the weight of the wheel & tire. I have always liked the exhaust port and will include that in my bumper. I put a small pinch in mine last time I was out and now have to trim it up. I also like the latch on the driver side with the swing arm going to the passenger side of the vehicle. For obvious reasons stated above. Lastly looks. I am a fan of the ODL looks and this stays par for the course. Very interested to see a concept up and on Jim's orange rig.

I like it . It appears to be light weight looking too.

I like how the swing out tire holder is integral with the bumper and not an after thought.

I like this bumper a lot better then the hybrid.

The other way around and you have trouble opening it from the side of the road (in a parallel parked position).
