Not sure why people don't like the exhaust out the side of the bumper? Where else would you put it? If you don't want it smashed or carbon monoxide poisoning/death it's perfect. Currently building bumpers and plan to do the same, and did this to my stock bumper until the new one is done, looks good man. We are doing the swing on the right side though.

I like it a lot! I hope it's as affordable as the front bumper. I like most of the things people in this thread have been complaining about, although I'm not sure how I feel about the exhaust hole. Other than that, it looks very slick and well-fitted to the truck. Can't wait for pictures! :thumb3:

I hadn't really even considered a rear bumper, mainly due to the fact that I didn't want the extra weight and I didn't like how EVERY other plate bumper I saw stuck out farther than the stock one, especially the Sonoran steel one. But this is a bumper I can definitely see myself getting. Its very attractive and it looks to be just as low profile as most of the tube bumpers can be.
Couple of questions though:
1) It looks like the swing away is incorporated fairly heavily into the body of the bumper. Would a non-swing away version still have those grooves for the swing gate hinge and latch? maybe the Non-swing out version would be able to not stick out as far seeing as it doesn't have to make room for a swing gate..
2) How much will the non-swing out version weigh? I am hoping that between tossing the heavy tow hitch and the stock bumper, I can come out almost even. A guy can dream right?
3) I don't see a hole for the retainer pin on the tow hitch receiver, is that just a graphical typo? I probably know the answer, just thought I would give a heads up.
4) What are the plans for the top part of the bumper you see when you open the rear hatch, have any creative plans to get that to flow well into the truck and not look like just a plate of steel?
5) Any plans to make it DIY? I could get in on that train.

The side of the tire carrier choice was for curb side unloading so you didn't have to walk around it. You don't need to swing it out all the way into the street to get the rear open. But who knows, maybe a mirror version will be available. Right now the focus is to get one functioning version on the market.
We are very excited to finally release this bumper. It has taken much longer that we all would have liked it to and final tweaks are in process. Expect a final product very soon.
We will have caps that will block out the mounting area. This allows anyone to be able to upgrade later if they choose to do so. Keeping one version of the bumper will keep costs down as well.
We are looking at 110 lbs without the swingout. We won't have final numbers until we have completed one.

Yes. We've got some slick ideas that we are coming up with to finish that look off.
Hard to say at this point.
We've got a background in sand rails, road racing, circle track racing, and rock crawling so tucking up the exhaust was a natural function and style choice, I'm sure CBI has thought the same thing in their process as it is pretty common in other motorsports. We always have been reaching out to these past ventures for ideas as well as the way we fabricate. We are still debating if it will make the final cut.

Definitely a cool looking bumper! Any thoughts on making one that will fit a 1-2" body lift?

The drawing is now finalized. We are now moving towards production. The exhaust port did not make the cut and the carrier will swing out to the driver side. The tire will also sit on the driver side for visibility.

OK...I'm liking the looks of this bumper. I'm thinking when my truck hits 200k she is getting some new front and rear bumpers, rails for the sides, and an inch bump in height.
But silly question...will their be a hole incorporated in this bumper for an antenna? Or would we still have to buy a bracket, be it yours or others that bolt near the tailgate?

We haven't been listening to metal since we moved. =(
I would imagine if we had a hole that not everyone would use it. The best option would be to drill your own hole or use one of our brackets.
