Overland Expo EAST 2015

we were loaded up, ready to roll Monday morning when suddenly our plans went pear shaped forcing us to cancel - I was pretty bummed when it all fell apart. Feeling a bit better about missing it now. My wife is fairly new to the whole camping concept, I would hate for her to have a horrible experience so soon into it. It can be hard to have fun sometimes when your socks are wet, muddy, and cold.

Wow! Mud rain mud!
i was going to go back in today after i had packed up camp and been to town this morning but they turned me away. at first they told me to go over to the spot you have pictures of then when i got there they told me to turn around. i almost did not get out of that lot

I was in that lot, near the top directly behind you, got up on my third attempt. It was the initial mud that was the problem...
I was lucky enough to not have to camp since I have family down the road, your wife would have NEVER gone again, you really are better off. When I left today at 4:30ish it seemed like at least 75% of the folks camping had headed out.
Once it was dug out with the mud it was brutal, I couldn't make it up the first line, had to go to the second aisle and got sideways on attempt one, backed down and got a little momentum and cruised right up.
Good (wet) times....

it was fun getting out after sitting there in your way i think. i bet the tractor got a lot of use today
edit: on friday i was standing at the exit for like a half hour watching people try to get out of camp

We rolled out at 4:00pm yesterday after our last class. 4Lo with the e-locker had no issues. One spot where I had to work the wheel a little to get traction. Nice mud bath for sure!
My brand new ARB Awning broke. Any ideas how to replace a side pole? I saw a lot of great camping gear. A RTT is now on the list along with a CBI bumper.
I've been having a blast taking pics of people's rigs. Wish I did a little more socializing, but folks were hiding in their tents. I likely took pics of a lot of your trucks on IG: SC_4Runner.
I am considering heading back in today for the day (no sense in racing back to Charleston). Anyone else still around?

Did you have the guy lines down? I saw a lot of gear holding up really well, most had one pole lower than the other for the water to roll off. I may have seen your truck in the back half of campground? I didn't get back that way sorry I missed you.
Was just sitting here deciding if I wanted to go over, probably not as it just started raining AGAIN. (I'm a few miles away)
My son and I were camping on the backside, but headed out a earlier than planned. Fun trip, albeit very muddy. I have some serious cleanup to do now that I am home. Perhaps I am getting a little soft, but my bed slept way better than the ground did on Thursday night. I think I need to evolve my "camping" setup to something like the rig behind us!

[MENTION=91899]Jhalko[/MENTION]. It was tide down with one side lowered. Those big gusts game through at 2-3am and pushed down on the lowered side like a sail and just bent it instantly. It woke us up but it was raining so hard I was like eff it. I may be able to straighten it back, but it's bent 45 degrees...

Get with your local ARB rep or call them. They have great customer service and helped with an issue I had with mine.
[MENTION=115881]CplTurner[/MENTION] and I bugged out yesterday morning as the weather didn't look like it was getting any better, as well as other issues that arouse. I was impressed how my ARB awning and room did in the weather in the early hours on Saturday morning. It sounds like the weather was worse as the day progressed Saturday.

It was good to meet you and [MENTION=115881]CplTurner[/MENTION] at the expo, the weather just stayed the same, more rain, more mud. I didn't bother going back Sunday...
[MENTION=115941]KneeCaps[/MENTION] I assume that was you that passed me Sunday around 12 with the blue FJ pulling a trailer right behind along Cane Creek, probably on your way home. I was headed back to my folks after going out for lunch...

That was my buddy Derek in his 4Runner and Wylie in his FJ. I was behind them by about 10 min. We had to stop to get my wife's Subaru from the muddy parking lot.
I walked around and saw a lot of 4runners but no one was near them. I'll post up when I get a chance this week.

Yeah I walked up and met a few folks but it was such a mess. The interesting thing is that I went out on a 3hr mtn bike ride this evening, most of the trails were nearly dry further west! We were just socked in right in the weird "vortex" of rain...
