Owner for a week and already having issues

Bought my 98 limited last weekend and everything checked out. But the more I drive it, I find little things wrong. Like when I put my turn signal on and let it turn off after I turn, my headlights go off. Or when I was driving in the snow today (not that deep), I couldn't get it to go into reverse or park. As time went on, I was able to get it to slowly edge into both and on the way home it was fine.

I've always wanted a 4Runner and won't be turned away by little issues like these, but it would be nice to make sure that they aren't the cause/source of other issues. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the 4Runner first off. It seems that the turn signal switch might be faulty and in need of replacement by what you stated it seems like a false. Replace the whole assembly which costs around 60 bucks new off of RockAuto Parts Catalog or if you want an oem replacement try camelback Toyota parts

I feel your pain.
Couple days after I bought mine, the body ecu went out.
A few days later, both valve seats popped out of cylinder #6

Sh!t happens sometimes.
Hopefully nothing serious with yours.

How many miles?

Definitely give camelback Toyota online parts a call. Be sure to ask for online price discount.

About the transmission, well that sucks. One thing you can do is a trans flush or a drain and fill.

On my first week I had to do a full service, replace warped rims, change cv axle, tighten valve covers, replace starter, replace alternator, fix engine vaccume leaks, and still need to replace the windshield.... But well worth the effort, all vehicles may have some issues, new or used, I've learned this over the years and no longer stress about it, just gotta get low, down, and dirty. Kcco!
