P0171 Code 99 4runner turbo

Its a 1999 4runner V6 turbo. The P0171 code, system too lean, pops up. I replaced upstream O2 sensor and MAF sensor but code keeps coming up within 10 minutes. I notice now a crack in the air intake hose (see attachment). Could this be the cause?

That certainly could be an issue. Go to the junkyard and pull one off to see if that fixes it. Then you can buy a new one if you prefer. Are there cracks or worn parts anywhere else in the intake?

Is all of the turbo plumbing up to snuff?

Also, you can't come on here and talk about a turbo and not show us!!! We want to see!!!

Sure that could do it!

I had the same issue and bought the Airaid intake. Seems to give a very slight boost, not worth the money for that BUT it cleans up the engine compartment and the rubber boots seem more robust than the OEM.

Check your air filter. Have you installed a K&N recently? Mine blew just enough oil to gunk an already old MAF…but you replaced yours. Something to consider.

Sounds like you know what you're doing but sometimes we forget the obvious like the air filter.

Thank you for all the responses. It's my daughters car who lives 5 plus hours away. She was here over Xmas when I saw the code. Like an idiot I did not look under the hood to install the MAF sensor until the day prior to her departure. I'm going to order the part and find someone to install it down there. The car runs excellent however. I'll report the results. I do not have a K&N filter but I'll get a new filter as well.
I'll be happy to post pictures but it's not really much to look at. Basic 4runner limited we picked up used about 90,000 miles ago. It has been a great car. 184,000 miles doesn't burn a drop of oil

You say it's not much but again it's got a turbo. These didn't cine with turbos. Either you got a supercharger or a really cool custom setup.

I thought a turbo was the same as supercharger, but yes this is a supercharger that was most likely installed by the dealer when original purchased. I did not really understand what this was all about when I first bought the car about 6 years ago, I just liked the car and the price at the time.

Be careful saying that here, you might get flamed! LOL. That makes sense. Yes they had an option for TRD supercharger. No turbo.
