p0456 code

2 days ago my check engine came on along with the light that looks like a slipping car.
I have a 2010 SR5 4wd

I checked the code and got p0456
evaporative emission control system pressure leak detected- small leak
probably cause-
1. faulty fuel cap
2. EVAP line leakage
3. pump module failure
4. canister faulty

anyone with similar experiences?
is this costly to repair?

Thanks!

i hope so...

Probably your gas cap isn't on tight.:snacker:

I hope that is all.
should I get a new cap from the dealer or buy a generic one from autozone?

oh, will the check engine light rest by itself or do I have to do something? disconnect the battery?

The emission system is covered under warranty for 8yr/80k regardless of what make it is. If you are still within that range, you should take it to a dealer.

Warning light off...?

Surprisingly, the check engine light went off today after work.
The gas cap might be bad because even though it clicks, it is really easy to remove it. It does not feel tight at all.
Will there be a history on the obd if the light is now off?

Hopefully its just a gas cap. There will be a stored code.

Did you ever figure out what this was? I just had the same exact thing happen to my '08. Plus, I have the ABS light on, VSC off is blinking, and the check engine light along with the Maint light :(

Possible. But you might want to look at the Gen 4 forum. 5th Gens didn't start selling until 2010. If you searched I applaud you but suggest you preface your search with "4th Gen". Good luck.

Mine did light up like a Christmas tree after I had a local speed shop install some lift springs. Turned out they had broken a front ABS wire.

I just had this happen to my '16. Check Engine light, MultiTerrain light flashing, no cruise control. Turned out to be the gas cap wasn't tight. Funny how all those lights related to the gas cap....

I did search, and ended up buying a new gas cap. 5 days later, all the lights went off! Cheap $15 fix

Regarding the gas cap replacement:

It seems that the last eight numbers on the VIN# are critical to knowing the gas cap is on spec. Also, from my experience and others as well, a factory gas cap is strongly advised as opposed to an aftermarket product.
