Panhard Correction Kits for the 4th gen - fix that panhard bar angle!

There's skids if you haven't already bashed up your mounts. If the mounts are bashed it's time to burn new ones on. I'll be putting the new mounts on.

I can bend them back to shape with a pair of channel locks. I got high centered on a rock with my gas tank and the lower link mounts took some abuse getting unstuck without any proper recovery gear. Any idea why I shouldn't make spring skids?

I need 35's: I won't run them without gussets though. I'm on the fence about 4.88 gears and lockers as a requirement though. If I were to have it pulled apart to put a solid pinion spacer in I don't see why I wouldn't go balls to the wall with it.

You'll be happier with gears if you go 35s on a v6. If you're gonna be crawling, you'll want lockers.

That's what I hear, but I have a V8. I rock crawl a bit, but lockers would have saved me from using a cumalong to get out of a few mud pits. ATRAC just doesn't always cut it.

31.5's don't really cut it either.

WOW! That makes a huge difference.

Sometimes when I'm driving I forget I'm not in a Supra, ever since the lift turns have been a bit unnerving. I can't do cloverleafs at twice the recommend speed like I usually do for fear of rolling.

Today I took my truck to town without thinking about the panhard bar and I took a turn I've done hundreds of times. This time, the body didn't roll and I wasn't even thinking about body roll until after the turn and I realized that negotiating that turn felt like driving a car.

I just might throw the rear sway bar in the scrap pile. I can't reconnect it now that I have a 3.5" lift. At least not without more struggle than I'm willing to put up with.

Thanks eimkeith, any idea what else (aside from CV axles) that gets thrown majorly out of whack when one lifts their truck?

Wow, that big a difference? I can't wait! Unfortunately I do have to wait until I can link up with my buddy to have it done. Couple weeks probably.

Started out beautiful ended up ugly haha. Not the prettiest welds, but they will work!

looks better than the welds on mine.

did you remove your axle to weld this thing on? I had the retired welder down the road do it under the shade tree.

I've had an ongoing project in the garage. I welded it onto an FJ elocker rear that will hopefully be going in this fall!

I got quoted like 250 to do this. Does that soound right?
It totally depends on who you have do it. I paid $40 and a case of beer plus a ride in the truck exploring some trails. That's probably the difference between old retired guy doing it in his front yard vs. a still working guy doing it in the shop.

250 seems pretty steep for 12 linear inches of weld.

If your bar doesn't match up with the holes you'll need someone to rock the truck while the other person slides the bolt in.

If he's a decent welder I would have guessed $50-$80 an hour so it's a little steep considering it's just 1 bracket with minimal prep work and consumables. Should take him 1 hour or less if he's good.

Anyone have any issues removing the bolt from the panhard bar mount?

Tried a box end wrench with second wrench for 1ft leverage.
Tried a torch on the nut for 30 seconds until the plastic clip mount nearby started to soften then used the wrenches.
Tried PB Blaster/tapping the bolt with a hammer/ air impact in forward and reverse.
More PB blaster and more pushing on wrenches and using air impact.
Loostened/spun the upper bolt for the panhard just fine.
Drove home from my grandpa's shop embarrassed. Please don't tell me it's left handed...

Not like there is any rust or dirt on my truck. Not much room on the nut side but I might try that next.

Maybe it's because my axle isn't on the truck and I have a different look, but I cannot tell where that is. From the looks of the thread though, it's a lefty loosy.

More cycles of what you are already doing. It's not reverse thread, and the nut is captive, so it won't turn. Just keep repeating your heat/PB - it's really all you can do, short of cutting the bolt between the factory bracket and the panhard bar..

I bet the bolt is rusted inside the panhard bushing sleeve - that happens on the front LCA eccentrics on the 3rd gens.

When you get it loose, you may want to put some anti-seize in the bushing sleeve before you reinstall it.

Alright guys, had a good idea today.

I used a floor jack to press up on the wrench. Couple popping noises later, the bolt was broke free.

Will be welding the bracket in the coming weeks.

I remember I used to use this trick on my rx7 lol. Never had to try it on the 4Runner even with all it’s underbody rust hehe

I meant to ask earlier but the 4th / 5th gen bracket is just for the axle side? It's not like the 3rd gen where you have a drop bracket and an axle bracket?
