ever since I was a kid i've always wanted to have some big round lights on my car and here it is..lol I wanted to go for the old school look. I would like to add two more larger ones up front by the front grill. I haven't had the chance to wire them up yet but so far i'm digging the oldies :fro:

Drove 85 miles to the beach today and the wind noise wasn't bad at all with the KC lights. On the way to the beach the wind was blowing hard against traffic and it was very noticeable just like the gobi rack was noticeable with strong winds but nothing that a good convo and some music couldn't drown. On the way back I didn't notice that they were there. I guess nothing more than the slight gobi hum. next up is difiant light bar to compliment the KC lights on the GOBI and ARB awning.
Wow, I really like what you've done in terms of mods. Very tastefully done. Makes your 4Runner look aggressive while keeping it relatively OEM as well. The Duratracs at stock height looks perfect to me.
Down the road, I would love to get a used 4Runner Limited for the amenities but make it look aggressive as you've done. I wonder if someone has accomplished a similar feat using vinyl wrap of stock bumpers and flares?

Love the stormtrooper look with the big, narly KC's on the Gobi.
When you said that you drove 1200 miles to get the Gobi, did you drive up to Colorado to get it from them? Did you do the install up there?

thanks, yes I drove to CO from deep south TX. Gobi installed the rack for free.

Question on White
I have been looking for a replacement for my FJ Cruiser for past 3-4 months. I have looked at everything from Range Rover to 4Runner, Xterra, and others. I just could not find a truck that had the right "look". Then I found your pictures. The search is over. I hope you don't mind that I plan on copying your truck - it is beautiful.
A couple of questions:
It sounds like you bought a 2011 Limited Edition because there was no white Trail Edition available - is that correct? If so, could I not just buy a White 2014 Trail Edition and get the look that you have achieved? For instance, I see that all of your trim pieces appear to be black - are they really black or are they dark gray in color? (I want black.) It doesn't look like the 2014 Trail Edition is available in the Pearl White - any feelings on how much I will lose the look if my truck is not the Pearl White?
I will plan to have my door handles and other few pieces changed to black, but with white TE I should have a running start at getting the look that you achieved.
Will your 285 tires fit without a lift kit? I have 285-17's on my FJ but I did have to do a 2 1/2" lift with Bilsteins. I have been very happy with it.
You have the best looking truck on the planet - nice job!

Correction to post above............ now it looks like I have another curve ball: the trucks I have been looking at have been 2013's (they had black trim pieces). It appears that the 2014 Trail Editions have trim pieces that are color matched to the body paint color.
I guess I will need to see if any dealers any place still have white Trail Edition left over from 2013.
Toyota sure is not cooperating with my plan.
I want a white one just like yours.

[MENTION=108577]bikerneil[/MENTION] Not sure if you read through his entire build thread and sorry to be the bearer of bad news but there is not 2010-2013 White trail edition that Toyota produced.
OP did a conversion, he swapped out all the LE trim and bumpers with TE trim and bumpers. That's the only way your going to accomplish that exact look.. Trim, paint and/or body shop work will cost you 3-5k to make the change. It might be wiser to just grab a 2014 Trail.

Thanks for the kind words. 285 will not fit on stock height without issues. I am currently running duratracs 265 at stock height in the rear and 2nd setting in the billstein up front. The car is a 2011 sr5 which I converted to TE look. The trim pieces are indeed black in color but not painted. 2014 does come in white trail edition but the trims are now color matched. Perhaps you can find a white pre 2014 and work out a deal with the dealer for them to do the conversion for you. Best of luck in your search, let me know if I can be of help.

The more I look at my white 2014, the more I want the black fender trim. There is no 2014 option available as there was in 2010-2013, so painting is really the only option I see, unless someone makes an aftermarket flair.
If painting, what would you recommend as far as paint to give a similar "look and feel" to the TE flairs, or would it just look cheezy?

I would look into plasti dip first before doing any permanent paint. check out plasti dip, the finish is somewhat textured and rubberized, it can peel off really easy if you don't like it.

I have found a low-miles 2013 Pearl White SR5 locally.
Here's my question: is the parts list at the top of this thread valid for transforming a 2013? I know that there were changes in 2014, but would the parts listed work for my 2013 transformation?
I am very interested in this plan, but I want to know if I can take this parts list directly to my body shop and have them order from this list. The truck in this thread was done a few years ago and I wonder if part numbers have changed etc. I would hate to spend $$$ on bunch of parts and then have them be wrong. If I take this list to my Toyota dealership will they have the expertise at teh counter to figure that out, or should I have my body shop that's going to do the work figure that part out? (Sorry for stupid question, this is not my area of expertise.)
I am shopping 2013's and want to have everything ready to go!
