Pearl white trail edition conversion

after getting my tires rotated at discount tire, I started having some horrible shake on the steering wheel. long story short, I put OEM trail wheels on to see if the issue were my wheels. I've been looking at the trd pro wheels on black and this gave me an idea of how it would sit since trd pro wheels are 17x7. The wheel and tire are noticeably more tucked in. The look isn't as aggressive as I would like for it to be. I'm going to give it a few days and perhaps it will grow on me and help me decide on those trd pro wheels.
Was it your wheels causing the shakes,thats why you switched to trail wheels?

It was actually my tires and not the wheels. I have oem trail wheels and the issue still persist.

Did you take the 4RUNNER letters off the rear to wrap it? If you did, were they a pain to get back on correctly?

Most, if not all, toyota wheels are hub-centric while most others are lug-centric. Almost all tire balance machines are lug-centric. I have had nothing but problems with balancing because of it, both on my 2011 and before on my 2002.
Find somewhere that does the road-force balance and pay the $$.
I had costco install the wheels and tires, balance SUCKED. Paid the dealer to do the road force, and it's smooth as glass!

Yes, the 4runner letters were taken off and if you're patient its not that hard to put back correctly.

Just got back from my Moab trip and some parts are waiting for me.

but I did run in some of their crazy off road trails. moab trails are insane, I wish I had my t4r while i was there!

Installed the TRDpro wheels. I love how they look! Definitely not as aggressive as the konig countersteer. Still debating on adding spacers or not.

Recently came across a set of TRDPRO suspension and installed them on my rig. The ride is a lot better than my previous setup which were stocks plus bilstein 5100 up front. One thing I did notice was that my vehicle sat almost an inch higher than my buddy's TRDPRO with the same suspension. I'm not sure whats causing the height difference but I love the ride and the way it feels on the highway is great. I also installed 1.25 wheel spacers which made my bfg ko2 stick ever slightly out of the fender. Perfect IMO.
Another addition is the Waterport tank. I love this thing! I often camp and visit the beach so its great for showering off the sand before getting in the rig.
I'm currently reading up on RTTs, this has been on my mind for a few years now but just haven't pulled the trigger yet. This will probably be my next purchase and then i'm set to explore :biggrin2:

a guy on heart of tx offroad FB page has a nice tent (mombasa overland plus/9009 RTT w/ annex and 12" ladder extension) for sale for a really good price. that is if you are still looking.

damn, oh well. i have decided that when i need to replace my current tires im going to get wheels too, and that the countersteer x is the only wheel i would go with. just figured i would see if you still had yours or were trying to off em.

thanks man, the counter steers are were awesome. perfect offset! I had a really hard time letting go of them. sold it to a buddy so I can buy them back when he doesn't want them anymore. lol
