People with racks! Haven't seen this question asked yet

I had an account long ago but can't remember my logon info...

Traded in my 08' Tacoma TRD off-road 4x4 for a 2012 4runner SR5 4x4 Magnetic Grey. So far I love it, I do miss the 6 speed manual though... I had a 93 4runner long ago so I'm happy to be back in a runner. I love modding my vehicles and can't wait to start on this one which brings me to a question, for those of you with racks whether it be Gobi, ARB or whatever and you have installed upper lights, how are you routing the wiring? I like clean mods that look OEM and the only thing I can think of is drilling into the roof which I'm not to fond of or routing them AFT to the rear lift gate and then forward but that's lots of overhead to disassemble. THere's Got to be a faster way.

Couple of options I have seen.

1. Run them down the to the black stip (rain channel?) then down the side of the windshield into the engine compartment.

2. This is the trick one that I have seen, but I forget the member that did it. Wire everything to the back of your truck and drill a small hole in the shark fin (if you arent using XM like me) and send the wires through.

I am sure you can get creative and figure whats best for you.

Most people run the wiring through the hatch area, down into the jack access panel, and under the sill plates to the switches.

Details are in my build thread below on how to run them for a Gobi rack. the nice thing with Gobi is that the wires come out of the rack at the rear so you don't have to run through the rain gutter very far.

I visited the Gobi shop and I'm nearly certain that Paul can prewire his racks and mod them for mounts if you send him your lighting configuration.

The problem is only that you should order 4 months in advance. It's almost like waiting for NFA paperwork.
