Ok, family and I are still here in Lima, Peru. Here is where I used to live when I had my businesses and my Toyota trucks (most notably my Hi Lux Surfs). Anyway, those are long gone and solely missed. I haven't been back since 2008, so I thought I would photograph some Surfs/Toyotas/Lexus to share with you guys. Peru's economy has been extremely robust in the past several years so when the US economy tanked, Peru's didn't skip a beat. Lots of new buildings and new cars. The (in)famous used Japanese (modified steering wheel location) cars are now difficult to purchase now. I used to see tons of Surfs here, but I hardly see them now. I return next month, so I'll upload other pics when I have them.
When I got here, my sister in law took me to a Toyota Dealership to check out the trucks (to see what is available) and to see what I can rent. Here you can see Mitsui Toyota and Lexus located in "La Molina" in Lima.
Nice new building. Looks better than some Lexus dealerships back home. Here, they sell the IS, ES, GS, RX and LX.
A nice lady walks up to us and asks if we needed any help. She says who she is and I recognize her last name. Turns out, she is a cousin of a cousin, so that would make us distant cousins?? Anyway, here were are (against my better judgement, here is my mug.... hahah).
To Lexus, I say whatever, they are nice, blah blah, but I was here to check out the Prado, RAV4 and 4Runner. The Peru-spec 4Runner apparently is the same as US ones, but no NAV/entune. The RAV4s have projector lights and come with manual trannies. The Prado, is well, very similar to the Lexus GX, but as you will see in the pics, are very bland and ordinary. Maybe I saw a bare bones one, but here it is. Manual tranny and all.
SR5, for you 5th gen owners, maybe you can spot some detail changes??
Here, the Camry is different, at least it looks different to me. The interior is all nice and luxurious, check out those back seat controls! Damn Lexus ES doesn't even offer that!!
