Step 1 was to strip all the road grime, dirt, old paint off, so I took the wheels into work and sand balasted them, and then cleaned off any residue left with rubbing alcohol.
Step 2 was to prime the metal. I used standard automotive grade primer, 2.99 a can or whatever.
Step 3 was to spray the lip red. Used Hi-Temp Engine paint, because it's made to stick to shitty metal, not like a nice flat body panel, but a pitted oily metal wheel. Obviously some other areas got hit with red as well, but no biggie, it's getting painted over. I used 2 cans for the 4 wheels, which is about a half of a can per lip...its a good 10 coats...overkill much? After spraying the lips, I baked the wheels in an old electric oven that I garbage-picked from someone hahaha
Step 4, once the red coats were dry, all the lips got taped off with masking tape (hardest part of the whole process was getting all the tape straight)
Step 5, when the lips were all taped off, it was finally time to spray the faces of the wheels with the same Hi-Temp Engine paint, but this time i used Semi-Gloss Black. This time I used an entire can for each wheel, making sure the sides of each spoke was covered, even sprayed the back of the spokes and the inside of the wheel. Again, baked each wheel in the oven afterwards.
Step 6, I cleaned each wheel thoroughly with glass cleaner because it evaporates completely and leaves no residue. Then I applied the TRD logos to each wheel, each measured out with a template I made on the top spoke, opposite the tire valve.
Step 7 was to finally clear coat the wheels and bake them once more.
