Just regular halogen H9s

Great thinking . I did that years ago on one of my other trucks and never gave it another thought.

Are you using just a reg halogen H9 bulb ? that would be a nice upgrade for fogs and for lo beams . I'll try to pick some up tomorrow. I do not know what Osram/Sylvania are . Is that the Silverstar ? or SilverStar Ultra or just a regular halogen bulb ??

I'm using just regular H9s that I picked up at Oreilly's Auto Supply (aka Schucks). Sylvania is the brand on the package (but Osram is the the label on the actual bottom of the bulb). I did not purchase the Silverstars. I just bought the cheapest ones and have never looked back.

I believe ThirdToy swapped out the fogs with H9's. I actually install Hella Extreme Yellow (H11) in my fogs.

The H9's are a cheap and easy mod with a big return!

I would agree . I went to buy some but they only had 2 and since i was digging around in there doing this I want to do all 4 at once .

I wonder if that 10 extra watts generates much more heat ??

Are there any upgrade bulbs for our hi beams ?? (9006's i think is stock)

The thing i like is that they are stock bulbs and could pick them up anywhere. Thats a plus for me . I like brighter but not , really whiter or HID's because they are not is good in rain and snow as a halogen are. That is why most lights that are mfg'd and specific a
labeled as fogs are not bright white , or HID. They are halogen/white or yellow or Amber .

I cant wait to do it.

How do you get the tab cut off the inside of the H9 bulb so it fits the H11 socket ??

I used sheet metal cutters to snip the part of the tab off to match the H11. I believe others have used a dremel.

Go here Krypton Bulbs & Headlights

My 4Runner's not in yet but I bought these bulbs today. I bought the H11 Krypton Ultra White (5,150k) for my low beams, 9005 Krypton JDM Yellow (2,500k) for high beams and H11 Krypton JDM Yellow (2,500k) for fog lights.

I've used Luminics for my high beams and fog lights in my Evo and they performed great and have been on the car for about 60,000+ miles. So i'm definitely using them in the 4Runner. I'm curious to see how the Krypton Series performs since the bulb itself is 30% bigger and they're claiming 30% more light and color.

Oh by the way i'm new here, just joined the forums this week. My 4Runner is due in later this month, just wanted to say hi!
