I just checked out the quickfists, wow! I like them a lot, now if I could figure out how I could attach them to the rack.

"For certain applications, like roof racks with round tubing, you can install the QUICK FIST clamps using hose clamps. Make sure you center the hose clamp on the plastic washer to avoid cutting into the rubber clamp."

Talking about accomodation special requests.
What are the necessary distances between light tabs to fit a 40" or 20" baja desings led lights?
I ordered my rack with tabs set to allow direct fitment of the baja leds, but i am afraid they just put them in the standard locations....

So for anyone with one of the Baja 5th gen flat utility racks with the sunroof cutout, Baja has just finished work on an insert. I just spoke to John and the first ones should be ready to ship on June 6th. Price on them is $150. Contact John Gjata at BajaRack if you're interested in one.

Did you specifically ask them to put light bar tabs a certain distance apart? If you did and they screwed up they should fix it.
The 40"BD Stealth LED light bars come with stainless L-brackets and is 42.3" long. I wrapped the bar in clear mylar tape and used stainless adel clamps to attach it to the bars on the rack. I bought my own security bolts as it came with allen head bolts.

I had looked at Baja designs LED specs, but still was not sure how it mounted. I specifically asked to have the tabs placed so I could mount either the 40" or 20" baja designs lights during my phone order, and later sent an email when I didn't see it specified on my invoice, but got no response. So I just was not sure.
I have not bought either baja designs LED at this point, so was still not sure where the tabs would need to be on the rack to mount either of the respective lights.
From your picture it looks like your clamp is just on the regular bar. Is that standard or something you had done special?
I might go put a tape on mine right now to satisfy my curiosity....

Harper... Did your rack have to be custom made for BD mounting purposes or, is the light bar mounted with the standard rack?

I have spent way too many hours researching bar-and-platform style roof racks for my new 5th gen. I keep coming back to security. Most of the time, on camping road trips, you will always be passing through urban areas to visit friends, load the cooler, etc. Is it really enough to lash down your gear with just ratchet straps or cargo nets? There are a lot of a-holes out there that would take a knife to them and make off with your aluminum boxes, bags, etc. Maybe they are hard to see in pictures, but most of what I see on the forum shows little in the way of locks (except the Rotopax cans). Am I missing something here? I'm interested to hear from you guys that carry a lot of expensive gear up-top and that spend considerable time in populated areas. Cheers!

Just make a cable lock long enough to weave through your gear and secure with a padlock.if theft becomes an issue.
