Placed an order for '07 Tundra :)

I can believe your waiting a month ......God !!! You could have picked up a Dodge Ram the same day instead of waiting ...............:D

Envy , congrats on the new truck , I've sat in a few and they are huge !!! But damn cool. I'm happy for you , but sorry you wont be hangin here as much , your knowledge has been an asset to us all.

Can wait to see pics with the lift and 35" tires:D

I saw this bad boy (Tundra) today during lunch at my dealer. At first the Tundra doesn't seem that big until you walk up to it and realize it's sheer mass or when compared to another vehicle. When it's sitting next to the FJC, the FJC looks tiny.

Going to checkout the truck some more on Tuesday when they have the Tundra Tailgate launch party.

BTW, has anyone seen the exhaust setup on the 5.7 V8? Toyota really means business with this engine, it's got a 4-2-1 exhaust header.

I wouldn't mine getting a Crewmax Limited with the 5.7 V8.

The 8 feet bed on the DoubleCab is available already, no diesel yet though. The CrewMax unfortunately doesn't come with a bed longer than 5.5 feet.
 
Those tundras are nice. There was this "tailgate" event at my toyota dealer introducing the new tundra and they had drinks, food, etc. Looked at the Tundras, not bad. Very roomy. :bigok: Too bad the CrewMax isn't out yet.

The tailgate event was pretty good, free food, drinks and snacks. Just lots of Tundras parked together at my dealership. I didn't think too much of it, but my dad brought up a good point about the regular cab and its huge doors. How do you get out of the truck in a parking stall given the wide width of the Tundra and the big doors? I told him, it probably isn't a concern for folks out on a jobsite where space is abundant, only a problem for urban mall going folks.

I like the truck a lot, can't wait until the CrewMax arrives so I can check that out.
 
Just an update:

My dealer has allocated my truck to me. I got a Slate Metallic with the Red Rock leather interior, navigation, sonar, and a few other goodies. The build date is 3/19 which means I should have it in about a month. :D

I hate waiting, but I guess I want the same truck as everyone else!! :D
 
It will be interesting to see how this truck does , they will have a hard time competing with the big 3 in the contractor type truck market.

Around here it's all big 3 iron on the job sites .

Damn nice looking truck though , BIG !!!

I can't wait to see it . Tell them to hurry it up !!

Damn i went last week to get a tundra. They had the one I wanted, a timberland 4x4 sr5 v8 trd. They only offered me 16500 for my 4runner. its a 4x4 SE v8. There excuse was since i have an OME lift, its worthless. They told me to return it to stock height, remove the exaust, and they will give me 1800 more. I walked out.

Unfortunately true , there is NO value to a dealer to have a truck with those mods sitting on the lot. They probably would wholesale it off to a small used car dealer. Mods actually decrease value , sometimes dramatically.

I bet if you put everything back to stock cleaned it up good and took it to a different dealer that didn't know it was lifted and modded you would get a little more than the 1800 add'l they offered.

Wow that's all they offered you? With all the mods I have they were ready to give me $24k.

Which leads me to the sad part of the thread...

I sold the 4Runner last Thursday to a friend of mine I work with. :( :( :( A real great guy and really appreciates the 4Runner for what it is. He says he bought it because of the wheels and the sound :D , but the good news is at least I get so see it every once in a while. He paid me $26k, he wanted it so bad he paid the extra $1000 over what I was asking to keep me from selling it to dealership (and make up for the tax I'm going to be paying on without trade-in credit on the new Tundra). He is expecting a baby soon and needed a larger more family oriented vehicle. Sold it with 23,800 miles on it.

That being said, I am looking forward to the Tundra but I know there will be things I will miss about the 4Runner. That thing was an absolute champ of a vehicle, did everything I asked of it and more. I expect the same from the Tundra. As I posted earlier, I'll continue to hang around and give my opinion and share my knowledge as long as anyone will let me. I have learned so much here and I am determined to give back so if anyone has any questions about the 4Runner or even the Tundra feel free to PM me anytime.

And, of course, I'll be posting pics of the new truck as soon as I lay my eyes on it which should be around the end of March. Show me the BEEF!!!
 
Don't knock the Rams too much my 03 was as problem free as anything else I have owned. Miss that truck and just may end up going back to one. I got a very good offer on it so I sold it to my brother, he pulls a trailer every day for his buisness. 7,000 lbs and an average fuel econ of 17-20 mpg hand calculated not some computer readout. The Cummins is one of the best motors out there, the new ones with all of the emissions crap(as all of the big 3 diesels) are not as attractive to me though. I'll probably end up looking for no newer than a 05. Curious to see what Toyota does for a diesel. Will it be a Hino? It would be sweet if the "heavy duty" version had a straight axle under the front as well. Oh well, back to studying.

I got to test drive the 5.7 liter tundra today. It was a great machine, but way too much for what I need. I love the creature comforts of my suv, so I won't even consider trading in the 4runner for the truck.

Don't get me wrong, I had fun with the Tundra. The roads were wet from the morning dew and I got the thing loose. The Tundra had 20 miles on it, and the dealership was short staffed, so they said I could fly solo. I was tempted to find the nearest woods or Home Depot :)

There was even a point where a big dodge ram truck was right behind my ass. We were on a 2 lane road, so when I took off from him at a stop light, but he made sure I could see him in the rear view mirror.
 
Sorry for the late update, just wanted to post a pic since I promised one! I got the truck about a week ago, and it's first dirt bath was last weekend going out to my parent's house for Easter.
