As for this specific issue, if you have a meter, check if you have 12v on the red or longer wire. If so then it should be working or could be a faulty diode in the harness. Regardless of what it is, send me an email from the website with your order number and I can help troubleshoot or send you a new known working harness.

A word on switches... the ch4x4 and AOB switches have different configurations and wire colors. The directions from the other user above may. To match the colors you have. On my harness, the red or longer wire is the 12v supply and the black or shorter wire is the load.

So just to confirm. Ordering the "View Backup Camera at Any Time" for my 2014 4runner and a AOB "Reverse Camera" switch.

If I want the switch to light up the "reverse camera" portion when the headlights are on, which wire off the switch can I run to a fuse tap to tail light fuse? Then where do the 2 wires coming from the dongle go to on the AOB wires?

at his website Anytime Backup Camera for the needed dongle for the anytime back up camera dongle for a 2021 T4R as it is different from the 2014-2019’s. Ordered a new switch from AOB in the correct color as well.

My install went off without any issues. Rear camera still works as normal.
Depress the AOB Rear camera switch when in any gear, camera comes on.
AOB Switch dims properly just as the other switches do.


EDIT: On the AOB Switch wiring pictured, I connected the red to red on the ABC wire & the AOB green to orange ABC wire. Polarity correct!

ORDER HERE - Rear Camera Override Dongle


Hello all... I have created a dongle which will allow you to view your rear view camera at any time, not just in reverse. The pictures below are of the first prototype I made for my 2011 with Nav/JBL. The basic dongle allows you to operate the camera with a single pole single throw (SPST) switch of your liking (works with AOB switches).

This dongle should plug right into the following models..

2010 with Nav (with or without JBL)
2011 with Nav (with or without JBL)
2012 with Nav and JBL
2013 with Nav and JBL

I am working on getting something together for the 2012 and 2013 non JBL models with Rear camera on the screen (not rearview mirror) as well as the 2014-present models. I will be selling these and in order to keep the costs the same across the board for the newer models they will be using the same plug but it will involve just removing 2 wires from the factory plug. If I were to offer a plug and play for those models it would double the price since the 28 pin connectors they use are much more expensive and I can only get these parts from Japan directly.

If interested, I am also working on setting this up to accept auxiliary video input.

Below are some pictures of the dongle, they are all hand made with love right in the lovely USA (by me). The final production model will use PET wire loom since it is more flexible and better looking in my opinion.

I realize this is a very old thread but reading it make me think you may have a solution to a project that has been challenging me and, from what I have been reading, many other folks also. I'm fairly adept to mechanical & electrical systems but what I'm trying to do is befuddling this old man.

My goal is to incorporate an additional front camera to my 2019 4runner TRD-OR. The issue is not installing the camera, the issue is displaying the live stream image of both the front aftermarket camera and the OEM rear backup camera onto a Samsung Galaxy A 8" tablet. There's a conflict of getting the digital tablet to see an analog camera. Yes, I use an OTG cable and have tried various apps but nothing, to date, seems to work. I know your product allows for interfacing an additional camera to the OEM head unit but, being an older guy I'd prefer using a larger display, ie tablet. If you have a solution for this you will have opened the door for a lot of folks with the same interest as mine.

OBTW, I did debug the tablet's USB but that was not the answer. Any ideas? Thanks for whatever help you can render! Sandbuster

does anyone know if the dongle to see the back up camera at anytime work with a 2022 4runner with multi terrain monitor?
