Portable Air Compressor and Jumper Options ?

I think the Viair 400P is one of the better balances of size/cost/performance out there right now.

For jump starters, there's more options now than there was when I bought my Antigravity one. I've heard good things about Weego.

+1 for ARB. I copied someone off this forum and mounted the single where the jack and stock tools are mounted behind the rear plastic panel instead of under the hood. A lot of work, for simplicity just buy the kit pictured before in the thread with it mounted in a tool box. Can’t go wrong with them and they are rebuildable. Shouldn’t ever need to buy another one.

I was reading up on some Smittybilt compressors, for the same price of a 300P more or less, it seems the Smitty you are getting much more compressor. The drawback though is their components and accessories are "proprietary" based on my research hence, I have to go with their components vs universal air accessories/components.

I was reading up on some Smittybilt compressors, for the same price of a 300P more or less, it seems the Smitty you are getting much more compressor. The drawback though is their components and accessories are "proprietary" based on my research hence, I have to go with their components vs universal air accessories/components.

You can replace the quick connects for maybe $15.

Have a viair 400p, but mounted a twin in the engine bay after I hit the 4R (space issues). The viair is great, but I do love the convienence of the hard-wired and mounted twin..

Also for power packs, can’t go wrong with the NOCO line... have a GB40 and a GB70. When I go camping with the family, easy to bring both (just in case). Otherwise, the 70 stays in the 4R and the 40 for the CRV. I’ve powered a small projector on the GB70 but it usually dies just short of 2hrs...

I swapped on different ends. cheap and easy.

Been using an ARB portable compressor for several months now with no issues/complaints

I'm also running the same compressor for a few years. Its solid, with only 1 main drawback: it's slow to fill tires

1st photo is of the tip of the Smitty Built air chuck cut off and the replacement air chuck. The tip is used as a deflator. The replacement Air chuck was from Amazon the 1/4 NPT barb from Harbor Freight.

2nd Photo is a 1/4 NPT copper T and 4" extension to clear pump. Blow off valve is at top and the Viair switch is on the other side. Turns on below 80 psi, off at 105 (no hose issues).

3rd Photo is of the Viair switch tied into the power line with waterproof wire nuts. The zip ties are for strain relief on the power line.

I did this because the basic Smitty Built air chuck is "always open". You have to attach it to the tire valve and then turn the compressor on. With this setup I just turn it on and air up all tires.

The female sides are like $22 though. I plan to replace everything with normal 1/4 quick connects.
