Does it come with the backing plate?

Ok, sorry for asking this, but I am still confused. Does the Porter Cable 7424 come standard with the 6" backing plate? If so, do the Griots pads work with this baby and can I use the backing plate multiple times?

Basically what I want to know is...if I buy the 7424, can I just throw on the Griots pads or do I need to buy a seperate (velcro) backing plate? How do the pads attach to the backing plate?

i got the 7336 from lowes for 109 and ordered the velcro backing plate, pads and other stuff from griots. the 7336 came with its own polishing pad but i don't use it. i think the backing plate was like $14 from griots

dunno if it makes a diff, but the model i got was 7336SP. don't know if theres a difference between the 2

I'm a newbie at detailing, but here are what I learned:

A : It depends on where you buy PC 7424 from. If it is bought from Lowes, then "Yes" you will need to purchase the velcro backing plate from other vendor (ex: griots, meguiars...ect). On the other hand, If it is bought from like coastaltool.com, then "No" you don't need to buy the velcro backing plate.

Q: Is it better to get the 7336 (???) and just buy the backing plate?

A: I think "Yes" (but not much), the main different between PC 7424 & PC 7336SP is follow:

PC 7424 originally comes with 5" counterweight.
PC 7336SP orginally comes with 6" counterweight.

I would say go with either of the following combinations below

Backing Plate: 5" with polishing pad: 6" or 6 1/2"
Backing Plate: 6" Polishing pad: 6 1/2" or 7 1/2"

Note: If you purchase the PC 7424 from coastaltool.com, then it also come with 6" counterweight and 6" backing plate as the bonus kit.
